Office 365 user account validation - possibility to turning off
Hi,
some of my users in test tenant for customer experience the need to validate their accounts with phone number (sorry for the printscreen in German). They want to turn the feature off.
I have checked the multifactor autentification (Azure AD) via admin portal in O365 but it is not enabled for any user (I did not find any other setting for this feature in the admin portal). Still the users experience the account validation through mobile phones.
Could you please help me how to turn it off?
Many thanks!
Apart from the MFA settings, you need to disable SSPR from the Azure portal -> Azure AD -> Password Reset -> Properties -> choose None under Self Service Password Reset Enabled.

That's not "validation", but gathering information for features such as the self-service password reset, MFA, and more. It's mandatory for admins, and can be toggled for users. You can automatically populate the fields as detailed here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/active-directory-passwords-data
