Accessing a shared mailbox from a mobile device
Can anyone please tell me what the steps are in accessing a shared mailbox from a mobile device (e.g. iPhone, iPad, Android)?
I need help with the Client and also mainly what the correct server settings on the Users profile should look like.
Any pointers would be really helpful!
It is, although I cannot tell whether the rollout is 100% complete.

- joelchris91Copper ContributorHi,
We are having thus same issue, couldn't add shared mailbox even if both mailboxes are in online, getting permission error, and the user has delegate access to the shared mailbox.
Any fixes for it ?- MichaelOlivIron Contributor
I had the same issue when I had only right "send as" in exchange online to the shared mailbox. I add my account to "Full access" to the shared mailbox and it works.
Could you check in admin office 365/Groups/Shared mailbox if your account is a member of this shared mailbox. If not try it.

You have to use IMAP, and you have to use the built-in mail client since most other mail clients now recognize O365.
Android
- Go to Settings -> Accounts -> Add Account
- Select “Email” for the default email app
- Click on “Other Providers”
- Enter the email address of the Shared Mailbox and select Manual Setup
- Select IMAP
- Enter your password (shared mailboxes have no password, so you must enter your password)
- Enter the following IMAP settings and go to next when complete:
- Username changes to YourUsername@domain.com\SharedMailboxName
- Server changes to outlook.office365.com
- Port changes to 993
- Security type changes to SSL/TLS
- Update the SMTP information (required for "send as")
- Server name changes to smtp.office365.com
- Security type changes to STARTTLS
- Username changes to your username
- Set your account options (sync frequency, notifications, etc.)
- If necessary, change the "account name" and "your name" fields - especially the "your name" field as this is what is displayed on outgoing messages
iPhone
- Go to Settings
- Go to Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Add Account
- Select Other
- Select Add Mail Account
- Enter the New Account Information and then select Next
- Name the account
- The email address of the shared mailbox
- Your password
- Description of the account
- Ensure that IMAP is selected at the top
- Fill in the Incoming Mail Server information
- Fill in the Outgoing Mail Server information
- Select Next and then finish creating the account

Depending on whether or not your organization allows IMAP/POP access, you can try this way using IMAP (as long as it is enabled) and use the user@contoso.com / sharedmailboxmnemonichere per the website here. Worth a shot but many organizations block imap.
Currently you can only access the calendar of a shared mailbox, access to other folders is coming in the following months. Or years :)

VasilMichevReally? so you can only access your own inbox on your mobile and not anything else?
You can access Calendars, but not other folder types.
