Stock Data Types Wont Refresh - Provides Erroneous Error Message
I have an Excel workbook I created a few months ago and this afternoon while I was away, the "stocks" data type refresh feature stopped refreshing. The error message I receive instructs me to sign in to an account associated with this product (Excel), but I am clearly signed in. To be sure, I sign out and sign back in. Hit 'refresh' and receive the same error message. MS tech support tried to make a manual repair during a chat session, but it still will not refresh. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

- CRiv1070Copper ContributorHave this same problem and it's been for the same amount of time. I am able to get the stock data to work in a spreadsheet at work though so this may be an issue with personal accounts only. I have multiple other spreadsheets and none of them will allow the stock data to refresh, only a corp spreadsheet seems to work. Could also be an issue with 365 Home / Family as my work is 365 Corp.

forbisher I think the issue is related to the provider which in this case seems to be the piece of crap known as BING.
- UsernameNotAvilableCopper ContributorSame issue. Says I need to sign-in with an account with a subscription despite being signed in to Excel / 365
- sNoronhaCopper ContributorHi, does anyone know if this has been fixed? My spreadsheet has been messed up since yesterday. Tried opening a PowerPoint file and again it's the same you-need-to-sign-in message!
- dbrownmanagerCopper ContributorAffirmative, same behavior on my end. Microsoft has messed up my Excel file big time.

Maybe I'm stating the obvious, but I'll do it anyway. I believe Microsoft's source for stock quotes is Refinitiv. I think that's where the error message is being generated; Microsoft or Refinitiv broke the connection that exists between them, interrupting the flow of stock data.

If that were the case why would the message be specifically about the account you're logged in with, rather than a connection issue?
Would be good for MS to post an update.....
- Prentice3Brass ContributorGood question, Chris. I doubt the error message is necessarily accurate. When the connection doesn't work, perhaps the error handling in the code defaults to a login issue when it cannot determine the real problem.
