Changing the default windows size of certain system apps
Group Policy Editor is the main one. It always starts too small so you have to drag it out and then expand the left pane so so you can read the contents. Unlike most apps, it doesn't hold size settings for next time. Any way of fixing this? The windows size defaults must be defined somewhere...XanderBearcreekDec 11, 2024Copper Contributor1View0likes0CommentsHow do I convert mkv to mp4 on my HP laptop Windows 11?
I've been organizing video files recently, and I have a bunch of MKV videos, about 50 or so, with a total size of nearly 100GB. These videos can be played with some players on my HP laptop (Windows 11), but when uploaded to some devices or platforms (such as mobile phones or TVs), the MKV format is often not supported. Now I want to convert all these MKV to MP4 format, which will be more compatible. I've tried some online tools, but the files are too large to handle, and the speed is so slow that it drives people crazy. Is there any good method or tool you recommend that can quickly batch convert MKV to MP4 on Windows 11? It's best not to lose video quality! Thanks everyone!XanderBearcreekDec 11, 2024Copper Contributor5Views0likes0CommentsCan't update windows 11 (Install error - 0x800736cc)

Recently, I tried to make an Ubuntu bootable USB drive on Windows 11 to install Ubuntu, but I encountered some problems. Since I am more accustomed to using the command line, I decided to use the command line to make a bootable disk, but the result was a bit stuck, so I came to ask for help. I downloaded the ISO file of Ubuntu, which is about 2-3GB, and then prepared an 8GB USB drive. Through the command line tool, I used the diskpart command to format the USB drive, and then used the dd command to write the ISO file to the USB drive. However, every time I finished, it always prompted that the system file was not found or the USB drive could not be recognized when it was started. Can friends who have done similar operations share the steps to use the command line to make an Ubuntu bootable USB drive on Windows 11? I may have missed some key steps or there are other things I need to pay attention to. Thank you very much for your help!LandonParkerDec 06, 2024Copper Contributor33Views0likes3CommentsHelp! How can I make a Windows 10 bootable USB drive?
Recently I need to reinstall Windows 10, but I have never made a bootable USB drive. This is my first time trying it, and I encountered some problems, so I want to ask for help. I first downloaded the ISO file of Windows 10 from Microsoft's official website, which is about 5GB in size. Then I prepared an 8GB USB drive, thinking that it would be done in a few simple steps, but I encountered some problems during the production process. When I made it for the first time, I did not format the USB drive, and the bootable disk could not be recognized normally. After reformatting it for the second time, it was barely completed, but it was still a little unstable. Has anyone encountered a similar situation? Or do you have clearer steps and methods? I really want to help you, and hope to solve this problem smoothly!RyderEvanDec 06, 2024Copper Contributor46Views0likes8CommentsCan't clone disk to new SSD after leaving insider program
I joined the insider program some time ago and eventually opted out, but I wasn't aware that to completely remove the insider build, I would need to perform a clean installation of Windows. Recently, I purchased a 4TB m.2 drive to replace my existing 1TB m.2, which I had cloned. However, I encountered several issues during the Windows setup and wasn't able to boot properly. Now, I need guidance on the next steps. My goal is to keep the data currently stored on my 1TB m.2 and transfer it to my new 4TB m.2. It seems like a clean install of a non-insider version of Windows is necessary, but I'm unsure how to do this without losing any data. What is the best approach to take in this situation? Has anyone else encountered difficulties when trying to create a Mobile Hotspot on the latest build? While I had a smooth experience with the release build, after upgrading and using Vivetools to attempt to unlock the 6GHz option (which never actually appeared), I can no longer activate the hotspot. Instead, it automatically switches back to the off position, displaying the message, "We can't set up mobile network." I'm using the default settings with Router Mode (NAT), and the Internet Connection is set to either my WiFi or USB Tethering, depending on what I'm utilizing. Adjusting the network key works fine. However, if I try to change the Network name (SSID), the hotspot fails to function, indicating that my device lacks capabilities for Wi-Fi Direct or a hosted network. Additionally, selecting Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) results in an ICS error.ShakespeareDec 05, 2024Copper Contributor7Views0likes0CommentsWindows Insider Builder ran into a problem
I've been encountering this screen since yesterday and I'm unsure why. Whenever I open my laptop, all of my drives, except for the C drive, disappear. Although my DNS issues from yesterday have been resolved and it's functioning well now, I'm still seeing this screen. What could be causing it? All of my Windows updates are current. Can someone please help me?DabrunDec 05, 2024Copper Contributor8Views0likes0Comments
