Remove post-auth confirmation for Windows Hello popup?
Hi all, I’m wondering if there’s a tweak or setting in Windows that can automatically dismiss the Windows Hello prompt window after a successful scan (facial or fingerprint). Right now, even after Hello successfully verifies me, I still have to manually click “OK” to continue — which kind of defeats the “Hello” part of Windows Hello. 😅 I’ve attached a screenshot of the window I’m referring to (below): It would be great if this behaved more like the lock screen, where once Hello verifies you, it just disappears and logs you in. Anyone know if this can be done, or if there's a registry/GPO/hidden setting to streamline this? Thanks!DanielRobinsonApr 22, 2025Iron Contributor13Views0likes0CommentsIssues with handling and performance after re-enabling iGPU
When I set up my laptop, I chose to disable the iGPU (integrated graphics card). Now that I have re-enabled it, several things have been functioning extremely poorly Rendering processes run extremely slowly It is difficult to load images Dedicated GPU is almost never used For example, I was playing a graphically intensive game that I could previously run at >100 frames per second at 1440p, but after re-enabling the iGPU, I can barely get 5 fps. I have changed the UEFI bios, Nvidia control panel, "Predator Sense", and windows display settings. Interestingly, the iGPU, which should be listed as GPU 0 in Task Manager, is nowhere to be seen: Device Manager doesn't show it either: I am led to believe that the dedicated GPU isn't being used, or is used rarely at all.QuinnQuinnApr 22, 2025Iron Contributor9Views0likes0CommentsMy PC rebooted from a bugcheck today and I need help to find the cause ?
This is probably no big deal, since it's only done it today so far, but i figured we should try to diagnose it just in case. My system bugchecked on boot, and then automatically rebooted as normal. These are my specs: Motherboard: Asus PRIME B760-PLUS D4 CPU: Intel Core i5 13400F GPU: Asus GeForce RTX 4060 RAM: Two x G.Skill DDR4 Aegis 2x8GB 3000Mhz, so 4 sticks of 8 GB. PSU: Cooler Master MWE Gold 550 Full Modular V2 PSU Storage: Samsung V-NAND 850 EVO 1TB SSD. - about 30% full. This is the only storage device. OS: Windows 10 Home, Build 19045.5737, Version 22H2 Case: Fractal Design Meshify CQuentinNashApr 22, 2025Iron Contributor9Views0likes0CommentsSlow Program Launches and Delays on Samsung Win 11 Laptop
Hi there. Having gotten great help on a BSOD on a desktop machine here, I am now looking to solve a slowdown on my Samsung Win 11 Laptop. I have filled in the 'Second System Specs' for this laptop that has an i7 at 2.8GHz and 16 GB RAM and 1TB SSD. When I use this system it will sometimes be so slow as to take 10-20 seconds to launch a local program and just seems to freeze. No BSODs that I have seen... What else may I tell you to get a look at what's going on here.....machine has run great until last month or two....Defender is enabled and I have Norton 360 and Malware Bytes running for protection....it seemed to handle the protection fine. Open to guidance. Thanks for looking! PhilColtonBrownApr 22, 2025Iron Contributor6Views0likes0CommentsAll windows move to second screen when playing a full-screen game
I have a dual-monitor setup with the second monitor extending the desktop (not mirroring the first). I like to play old games and I discovered an annoying bug when I switch the game on the first monitor to full-screen. Since the games are old, they typically use a low resolution of 640x480 or 800x600, below that of the native resolution (1440x900) of the primary monitor. All open windows obviously don't fit on the primary monitor at this low resolution and they move to the second monitor. When I finish my game and the primary monitor returns to the native resolution, all windows remain on the second monitor and I have to drag them back to the primary monitor. This is rather annoying, is there any way to automatically move all open applications to the primary monitor? Please help. PS: I tried to temporarily disable the second monitor. All windows return to the primary monitor, but they go back to the second monitor when it is activated again! Is there any better workaround?NessaryKilerApr 22, 2025Iron Contributor10Views0likes0Comments- EvelynRobertsApr 22, 2025Iron Contributor4Views0likes0Comments
Installed win 11 on an Asus laptop P5QC and it locked me out after screen went black
At boot get this Then Pin screen I enter Proper PIN, and I get this weird message I have never seen on any of my PC The install took me hours. The install worked and it is registered to my windows account OS is on a SATA drive I installed diskgfenius Set a clone for a hot migration to an NVME drive Disk Genius said was doing a system snapshot After 10 minutes the screen when black, no signal Laptop was off, it is plugged in to wall I rebooted and now I get this weird message Do I have to start over, nuke the whole stupid SATA drive? The SATA drive is abysmally slow. I started the OS install this AM, it takes hours and has to do the install, look for updates, download the OS again. I used this USB Media creator from MS on a another PC and it worked fine, and I made it 2 days ago, so you would think the OS is current. So far today nothing but a pain with this laptop. I thought maybe the OS shut off the display as I am using the laptop on an external HDMI port, it has no built-in display anymore.IsaaccomApr 22, 2025Steel Contributor5Views0likes0CommentsConsecutive blue screens every few months
Ever since i got my computer i have been getting Blue screens. Most oftenly with the code Memory management or more seldomly Kernel Security Check Failure. What's weird though is that i get a bunch of BSOD's during a day or two and then the computer is fine again for a few months. Now it has started again and i thought maybe i could get this solved with the help of this community. Programs keep crashing and it sometimes tells me game filers are corrupt during this BSOD period. I have changed RAM during this so it would be weird if there is a ram issue.TraceceaApr 22, 2025Iron Contributor11Views0likes0CommentsThumbnails in File Explorer only for images/videos
Over the weekend I set up my father's new PC, with Windows 11. I'm getting some unwanted behavior, that differs from my own devices. It concerns thumbnails versus file icons in file explorer. On my own devices: Always show icons, never thumbnails is OFF. I see thumbnails for images/videos/music files, but NOT for other files types like Word documents and PDF's. Which is what I want. On my father's new PC: Always show icons, never thumbnails is OFF. I see thumbnails for everything, which is not what we want. Why is it behaving like that on my devices? What did I do to make it behave like that? I did many web searches, but I haven't run into a solution yet. I do have K-Lite Mega Codec Pack installed on PC, which comes with Icaros thumbnail provider. Could that be breaking thumbs for non images/video/music files? Which would be a nice side effect. But it is not installed on my laptop, so... Why can't Microsoft just gives us more control. Why would anyone want thumbnails for pdf and docx files.DanielRobinsonApr 22, 2025Iron Contributor11Views0likes0Comments
