Good morning what better way to secure the family PC for a teenager? Basically, I wish my son could: - do flawless research on adult content - play on geforcenow/steam - watch YouTube without being able to comment or post videos I had created a fairly small Google teen account, but it was easy for him to create a new Google account to post on YT...NixonssMar 03, 2026Brass Contributor64Views0likes3CommentsUnable to access Windows session even after reinstallation
Until now, I used my school account to access Windows, however this account has just been deleted by my school (end of study). I can no longer access my Windows session, the account no longer exists and I do not have another school/professional account. I told myself when reinstalling Windows I would be able to access a page where I could enter a Windows key, the problem is that I am only offered to connect via school/professional account. Do you know how to do it, either to correctly reinstall Windows and then enter my license key, or to skip the part where I am asked to connect to at least access a session and then be able to do something? Thanks for your help, I really don't know what to doLeroy95Mar 03, 2026Brass Contributor82Views1like2CommentsHow to Remove These Annoying Category Folders in the Windows 11 Start Menu?
Need help! Many category folders (such as "Productivity tools," "Creativity," "Games," etc.) have automatically appeared in my Start Menu, grouping the application icons that were previously displayed directly. I simply want the apps to be shown directly in the Start Menu as they used to be, rather than being categorized into these folders. How can I turn off or remove these automatically categorized folders?YarisyoyoMar 03, 2026Bronze Contributor3KViews1like12CommentsNew tab or new Window PC with an Internet browser?
I ask myself a stupid question (but, rest assured, that doesn't stop me from sleeping at night!). When I "Right click" on a link to open a new Internet page while leaving the current one open, I have the choice between "New tab" and "New window". What would be best? I have the impression that it opens slightly + quickly when choosing "New tab", but basically, what are the differences? Of course I searched but strangely, although it is easy to find how to open or close tabs and/or windows, I found nothing that explains the difference between the two.AzaellowMar 02, 2026Copper Contributor44Views0likes2CommentsPC stuck at startup = "Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported"
Overnight I get this message when starting the PC. Under Windows 10, fairly classic and basic computer = Intel 3770k MSI Z77 integrated video card with a Sata Raptor HDD and a GB of RAM GNU GRUB version 2.02 Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions. Impossible to go further, I did some research on the internet, there are a lot of messages in forums in English but which are linked to other OS like Linux or Ubuntu. There on mine, well my wife's, she didn't install anything in particular. I booted from a USB key with Windows 10 and tried a repair, nothing worked. But towards the end it says to install Easy BCD but I don't see how since the PC is shut down and even if it was on another PC it's not very clear. If anyone has a tip, because I need to get them some files from the desktop and a lot of other important stuff (mdp etc etc...)HassanuiMar 02, 2026Copper Contributor47Views1like2CommentsStuck on previous/older Insider version
Greetings, I'm on the Beta channel and my issue is that I can't update my version,'Windows 11 Insider Preview Feature Update (26220.7070) (repair version). When I run Windows Update it tells me I'm up to date but when I click on the Windows Insider Programme there is message which says "A newer build is available in Windows..." and "Not seeing a newer build?" I hit the button "Open Windows Update". When I do that and run the updater I'm told I'm up to date. AGAIN... I've tried all sorts of fixes, command scripts, WuReset2.0 Windows Trouble shooters don't work I don't really want to do a clean install, my machine is part of my digital audio workstation with tones of software (200+ plugins and libraries) which takes several days to put the whole thing together again. Thanks for any adviceMauri_Berg1945Mar 02, 2026Copper Contributor18Views0likes1CommentWindows 11 24H2 experiences stuttering when playing local videos
On an ASUS laptop (purchased July 2025, system version 24H2 26100.7171), I encountered a tricky issue when playing local videos: When hardware acceleration is enabled (set to "High-performance NVIDIA processor"), playing low-quality/low-resolution videos results in stuttering and frame drops (audio remains normal), while 4K high-definition videos play smoothly. I have already tried reinstalling the NVIDIA driver (downloaded from the ASUS official website) and switching to the integrated graphics, but the issue persists. Related phenomenon: After enabling hardware acceleration in the browser, scrolling or switching pages causes some screen elements to linger for a few seconds before disappearing. Disabling hardware acceleration in the browser resolves this. Seeking the root cause of the problem and a solution.Komondor2240Mar 02, 2026Iron Contributor29Views0likes1CommentHow to Disable or Remove the Interfering Share Pop-up Bar in Windows 11File Explorer?
In the latest version of Windows File Explorer (with the tabbed interface), when I try to drag a file to another tab at the top of the screen, a "Share" action bar automatically pops up at the top of the window. This pop-up completely blocks the title area of the target tab, making it impossible for me to successfully complete the drag-and-drop operation, severely impacting the efficiency of managing files between multiple tabs. I have confirmed that this is not a feature of any third-party software but a built-in system behavior. My question is: Is there a way to permanently disable or remove this specific "Share" pop-up bar through system settings, Group Policy, or Registry editing, in order to restore a smooth drag-and-drop experience? If this is a known design introduced in Windows 11 22H2 or later versions, please also let me know if there is an official feedback channel.TrappJeanMar 02, 2026Silver Contributor1.4KViews1like6Comments
