How to use NFC with Surface Go 2 for Business?
Hi everybody, I recently bought a Surface Go 2 for Business. The spec in the webshop says, it has a NFC sensor built in, but I can not get it to read any tags. All the apps I tried do not even detect the NFC reader, also does official Microsoft https://github.com/microsoftarchive/msdn-code-gallery-microsoft/tree/master/Official%20Windows%20Platform%20Sample/Proximity%20sample does not. How to use the NFC sensor on this device or even find out, if the device I got shipped has the reader and if it is working at all? Hi - I've just bought a 128GB/8MB Surface Go 2 and to expand ports etc I've bought one of these hubs: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07M6R3CPB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I do get a message stating this device may need more power but the USB/SD ports work fine. My issue is the HDMI port does not appear to work. Is this because of a power issue with the hub or have I just bought an incompatible device? Any help is greatly appreciated. I recently traveled extensively in areas that had NO LTE or cellular service. I had downloaded some maps for the areas and was surprised that the Surface GO was able to pinpoint my locations. Now that Microsoft has a device that can do this, it would really help to see some expandability of the Maps app to include the ability to download sections of aerial maps. The lack of this ability was quite detrimental to my ability to get around in some very out of the way places. I realize "real people" get to use real devices that can do all this in the form of smart phones, but I need the bigger screen and the Windows OS, I don't want an iPad or Android for my needs. I can handle the fact that I can't use Google Maps, but the Windows 10 Maps App would be FINE if it would just let me download aerial maps. Aside from all of that can anyone tell me how does it know my location in the absence of the Cell Signal? I had thought that assisted GPS only meant that it used cell towers to triangulate or something, I was obviously mistaken. Can anyone tell me what the ACTUAL GPS capabilites of this device are? Is this built in GPS like I would have in a Garmin dashboard device for example? If yes, boy would it be great to be able to have some offroad mapping and trail app capabilities for this, particularly when and if we ever that the Qualcomm version with long battery life. Thanks, I have been slapped around by Microsoft so hard with the Phone fiasco, it would be really nice to see them put some effort into the apps for this very nice GPS capability of this device. The surface go has an NFC device in it apparently but info on this thing is incredibly sparse! I have no clue about it at all.. Does anyone have any information on this aspect of the device at all? Microsoft's product pages have hardly even mention it, and searching the internet is not producing any official information. This is potentially very useful for business so what the heck Microsoft, why is it not front and center??Myles GallagherMay 30, 2019Brass Contributor3.5KViews1like3Commentsthe keyboard does not appear
Hello, On my Surface GO 2 with Windows 11, the keyboard doesn't appear when I use my stylus, but it does when I use my finger. For example I open the notepad if I point in the text area with my stylus nothing happens if I use my finger the keyboard appears. I've tested my stylus on another surface and it works fine. I think that my surface thinks that a keyboard is connected (but this is not the case) because if in Settings-->Time and language--> Input--> Touch keyboard : in display touch keyboard I put "When no keyboard is attached" there it is not displayed at all even with my finger I have to put here "always" (and there is no choice of always in stylus management just never or when no physical keyboard is attached") In device manager in keyboard there is Standard keyboard PS/2 which always comes back even if I uninstall it. thank you in advanceMboualiJul 25, 2023Copper Contributor2.8KViews0likes7CommentsWelcome to the Surface 3 Community!

Hi all, does any one know what kind of connections/technology is used within proprietary surface connect port? Is this a kind of Thunderbolt 3 connection or is it just a USB-C (3.2 Gen2 or Gen2x2) with extra power connects? Is there an Ethernet pass-through included or what is the expected performance of the ports at the Surface Dock 2: + 2x 4k @ 60 Hz + Ethernet - still 1 Gbit + USB-C 10Gbps still possible in parallel to the Ethernet 1Gbps speed? I am looking for some details of the technical architecture for the Surface Connect Port and therefore the real technical capabilities of the Surface Dock 2. I am trying to deploy various Surface Driver and Firmware MSIs through SCCM. However during the deployment the MSI initiates a restart with only one minute timeout. Is there any way to suppress the reboot and let the SCCM client schedule the reboot with an appropriate 15 minute countdown etc. I tried with a /norestart parameter but that did not change the behaviour. Right now I am starting the MSI from a script and issue a shutdown /a after completion. From that point SCCM client is scheduling the timeout. It seems like a dirty solution and I would like to know if there is a better way of doing it. Regards SaschaSascha StopsApr 09, 2019Brass Contributor1.5KViews0likes0Comments
