3PIP Phones Teams SIP Gateway - PSTN Number
Hi, We're currently investigating moving our 3PIP phones (Polycom VVX) which are logging in with a MS Teams Common Area Phone accounts. These phones are purely common area phones mostly their only purpose is to allow the emergency Services to be called, the majority are located in Student Halls - as such they currently don't have a phone number assigned to them - when dialling out the SBC (We're on Direct Routing) is configured to set the calling ID to our main reception number. During testing it appears that in order to get these working on the SIP Gateway we have to assign a DDI number to each one. Is anyone aware of anyway to get these working without giving each one a DDI number? I have a customer who is on S4B on prem (all users homed on prem) and some users also have the Teams client (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/SkypeForBusiness/hybrid/plan-hybrid-connectivity#implications-of-the-retirement-of-skype-for-business-online). Those users with Teams can initiate a Skype chat with external users (federation) but the recipients (in TeamsOnly) cannot reply to that conversation. Instead they get this message and by clicking the link it takes them to a new native Teams chat where they can write to the user in Island The user in Island receives the message in the Teams client (which shouldn't happen) but they cannot reply in that chat. they the get message "Due to org policy changes, this chat is no longer available. Continue with Skype for Business" I have read a few sources in MS docs where it says that users in Island mode communicating with external (federation) should receive all messages in S4B client. Routing for federated chats and calls differs from in-tenant routing in that Islands users will always receive a federated communication in Skype for Business. This is because the federated partner may not yet be using Teams. Routing to Skype for Business for any islands mode recipient ensures messages will always be received. Routing to Teams could potentially result in missed communication if the intended recipient does not use Teams. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/coexistence-chat-calls-presence#federated-routing-for-new-chats-or-callsSolvedCarumCarviFeb 24, 2022Copper Contributor2.4KViews0likes2CommentsAre the DNS records for Skype for Business Online still required when in Teams Only?
Can someone answer if I can delete the old DNS entries? Have been running Teams only mode since March 2020. We have a few users with the PSTN from Microsoft as Add-On. One license is for Polycom Trio (voice only) running the Teams Client app in a Conference Room. We use a lot of the Microsoft Conferencing Add-on as well. I cannot determine from the MS docs if we still need the old DNS entries from running Skype for Business Online. We never had On-Prem. Can I delete these that MS is still listing in the Org Setup wizard of the Office Admin Portal Skype for Business CNAME sip sipdir.online.lync.com CNAME lyncdiscover webdir.online.lync.com SRV _sip sipdir.online.lync.com SRV _sipfederationtls sipfed.online.lync.comSolvedForrest_HSep 14, 2021Iron Contributor37KViews0likes6CommentsSkypefor Business Server (on-prem) was shut down, some users were unfortunately not migrated to teams

Currently our users are using Skype for Business Online and we are about to shift to Teams instead. One of the features we are going to miss is the abillity to send an IM to a Microsoft 365 Group. This is possible in SfB and results in a group chat with all members of the Microsoft 365 Group. We use this for groups of experts in our organization that all employees are able to write to with questions. I'm not able to complete the same action in Teams. Am I missing something, or is it true that this is not a feature in Teams? As alternative solutions I think it should be possible to convert the group to an open Team. Then all employees would be able to join the Team and post their questions in the general channel. Any alternative ideas are very welcome. Hello, My company is currently working on migrating from SfB to Teams and we want our Teams to deliver quality in terms of Calls, Video and App/Screen-Sharing. In order to do so we want to enable QoS for Microsoft Teams, but we can't seem to agree on the port range to open up to set this up and we hear 2 sides to QoS. One side says we need to open a lot of ports in orde provide QoS seemlessly, another side says the port range doesn't need to be that big for a large amount of users. Hopefully you guys can help me clarify this! Our situation: - Company with around 7.5k employees - We call/meet/share a lot in these Covid times One side says: You need to open following ports E2E for QoS: - Audio: 42501 - 50000 - Video: 50001 - 57500 - Screenshare: 57501 - 65000 The other side counters this with (E2E): - Audio: 50000 - 50499 - Video: 50500 - 50999 - Screenshare: 51000 - 51499 Who is at the right end here? Does a port get reserved when someone is using it and someone else can't use it then or can multiple users use the same port for audio or video or screenshare? Big thanks in advance!SolvedAertonNov 18, 2020Copper Contributor4.8KViews1like3CommentsSottotitoli
