VMs not allocated
Hi, I'm building a lab for our networking module, and I've configured synchronization of users with a group. I added a handful of users to test, and under "Virtual machine pool" those users have a VM allocated and their status is "Registered". I've now added all the users to the group, but the new users show as "Not registered" and no VM gets allocated. I thought that using sync to group meant users didn't need to be invited, and they could just login and get started? The total users is just over 200, so well within the 400 user limit. Is there a limit on how many users can be added to the group in one go? Thanks, DeanSolved566Views0likes1CommentBlocking access to a lab after the course has ended.
Hi, Is there a way to prevent "User" from accessing the lab after a certain date? We must keep assignments for a certain amount of time so we can't delete the labs immediately after the course ends. We are looking for a way to prevent the students from returning to their VMs and modifying their assignments. I thought about changing the VM's password, but doing that one machine at a time is time-consuming. Is there any better way, or any way at all, to achieve this? Ich nahm an, dass die Veröffentlichung als Job in Azure Lab Services weiterläuft ohne dass ich per Browser verbunden sein muss. Doch das scheint nicht der Fall zu sein. Hi. Is it possible to add network adapters to VM template or to a VM instance in Azure Lab? Say I want to test network routing or iSCSI. Hello, I have a domain joined Lab environment and I'm looking for the best way to provide external storage to our lab machines. In our lab, we use Windows machines but in the future, we'll use Linux as well. I'd like the drive to be mounted to the lab's VM, at startup so that the students don't have to do any further configurations. In other words, is it possible to mount the drive to the template? If yes, how? Microsoft suggests many ways to use an external drive here. If I want only the owner of the file to have read/write access to the files, which of the methods mentioned in the suggestions should I pick? But I want to know why regular Azure commands (Get-AzVm, Get-AzVirtualNetwork, etc) don't return any information about the Lab Services resources? Is there any way to get information about the virtual machines, network, etc, only with regular Azure commands? Hi, I have assigned the Roles above to our new team member but for some reason, he can not see the labs created by other users. I have tried various scopes such as subscription, Lab account, and the resource but had no result. From what I understand of the Role description, he should be able to see the Virtual machines, Start, Stop, Reset them, and more. Hi All, Our organization is using Azure Lab Services and, we are seeking advice on a problem we are facing. The problem happens when students mistakenly modify the connection of their Lab machine. Understandably, changing the IP setting makes the RDP string obsolete. After that, the VM takes like 45 minutes to start (sometimes it fails and stops immediately) and, if it starts, the remote desktop is not possible. Of course, we can reset the bad VM but, that is not convenient because they will lose all their work. My questions are: Is there absolutely no other way to access a machine that its initial IP address has changed? Is there any way to backup students' lab computers? Shutdown when idle does not seem to work, Any suggestions?
We are using Azure Labs for an Engineering course where students have simulations that can take hours to run on a Windows 10 machine. The idea was that students could start the simulation, disconnect and then let it run in the background. When the simulation finished the machine would shut itself down and stop using up budget We have set up the machines to shutdown automatically if the machine is idle for more than 15 min but this does not seem to work. Any clues, any other options or suggestions? We don't want to shutdown automatically if they disconnect because we want the simulations to continue even if they are not connected. Azure Labs user assignment to virtual machines
Good day, Just wanted to ask: once a user is registered and assigned to a VM, does he get assigned to that VM forever? Is it possible for two different users to be assigned to the same VM? We're concerned about the students' file access. e.g. student could be assigned to VM #1 for this session, then to VM #5 the next time he/she connects. I've noticed that if you shutdown a VM from within the OS (only tested this on Windows VMs), in the Azure Labs virtual machine admin console it shows that the VM is still running. Even with the auto shutdown VM when a user disconnects setting doesn't apply in this situation (actually, I checked the MS documentationand it does warn that this is the case so don't rely on it in this situation). My questions are: Does this indicate that the VM is still being charged? Is the best option to tell users to not shutdown the VM but stop it from the Azure Labs web interface? Would a good option be to disable the shutdown option from the start menu. Would this help to ensure the Auto-Shutdown when user disconnects kicks in as the only option is to close the RDP session if you're done with the lab?Solved1KViews0likes1Comment
