cannot ping outside of VM

We have ab Azure lab template VM and classes. We cannot ping any sites such as google.com or microsoft.com . Is this normal behaviour ? What can I check to allow for these pings to work ?

    alex2200 Hi Alex, Lab Services only allows set ports (either RDP or SSH) open.  The ping uses port 1 so it will be blocked.  Are you unable to open a browser to microsoft.com or google.com from the vm?
