I am currently running the latest Office 365 suite, on Windows 10 Business and using Outlook 365 (latest version). I have enabled MFA but I am still getting prompted to use an App Password to authenticate my Outlook 365/2019 desktop client, in order to connect to Exchange Online. It was my understanding that with MFA enabled, and Modern Authentication, I would be prompted for Approval via a push notification from my MFA mobile app (Microsoft Authenticator), rather than having to use an App Password. Am I understanding this correctly? If so, what do I need to check to make sure that I have all the parts in place properly, for using Outlook 365/2019 with Exchange Online with Modern Authentication and not App Passwords?11KViews0likes1CommentOutlook 365 constantly asking for password authentication
All, For the last month or more, Outlook constantly asks me for my email password for 2 different email providers. This is not happening on my iPhone nor MacBook. I have read dozens of posts to resolve this issue and nothing works. I deleted Office365 and re-installed. Still problems. This is really frustrating. Does anyone have a REAL solution?5.5KViews0likes2CommentsCitrix published application requesting credentials to send email via mapi
I have a published application "ABC" in Citrix Xenapp 6.5. The location specified in the application properties is another server. This application has recently had a functionality added where it can send email out to customers. But the users are being prompted for credentials by outlook as shown below:- We have Office 365 in Hybrid mode and Outlook 2013 on the citrix server. If my understanding is correct then this app is launching the Outlook 2013 from the Citrix server to send this email. As the user is already logged on to citrix and has app "ABC" open from this server then shouldn't pass through authentication work and user should not be prompted for the username and password? OR is it because of the issue mentioned in the article below:- https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/3126599/outlook-prompts-for-password-when-modern-authentication-is-enabled OR something related to OAuth? How can I determine the root cause?4.9KViews0likes1CommentCredential prompt when adding additional mailbox in Outlook
Hi, We have Azure AD Connect configured to sync user from AD to AAD. AD FS is in place to handle SSO for the managed domains in Office 365. Users run Windows 10 1809 and Outlook 365 1902. When a user logon to his/her computer and start Outlook for the first time Outlook detects the users email and the user can just click Connect and continue trough the wizard in Outlook to add his/her mailbox. During this process the user is never prompted to enter their password. If the user decide to add a second mailbox (File -> Add Account) in Outlook they enter the email address of the additional mailbox and click Connect. What happens then is they are presented with window where our AD FS server is prompting for a username and password. The username is pre-populated with the the email address of the mailbox they try to add. The user have propper permissions to access the mailbox. If they change the username to their own email address and enter their own password they mailbox is successfully added to Outlook. My question is, is it possible to have Outlook authenticate using the logged on user account credentials so we get an SSO experience when adding additional mailboxes in Outlook? On 9/24/21, my outlook.com email address stopped working with OAuth over IMAP. Nothing changed on my end. It works with normal authentication. It had been working fine with OAuth for months prior to this. Another user has reported the same issue in another forum. Oddly, the Access Token is being received just fine. But when the IMAP AUTHENTICATE command is sent, the Access Token is rejected with the useless "AUTHENTICATION failed" error message. I have contacted the outlook.com team, and they told me they can only provide support for the website, which is ridiculous, and they told me to post in this forum. I contacted the Office 365 team and they told me to contact the outlook.com team. So I'm getting the run around.2.7KViews0likes4CommentsUser getting refresh token expired due to inactivity in Outlook desktop AADSTS70008
I have a user who continues to receive this AADSTS70008 error in Outlook Desktop. This computer has been in service for several years and Outlook desktop has been running fine. User can successfully authenticate in MS Teams and Outlook on the Web. MFA is enabled. I have attempted a restart but Outlook produces the same error. I have seen older posts suggesting that the registry key for the office activation be removed to fix this issue. Any thoughts on a more straightforward fix than registry hacks? I have a Conditional Access rule so that when someone connects from outside a trusted IP it requires MFA, I have a few users that get the "Requires password" message come up, they get a window and type in their username and click next, then the window disappears without prompting for MFA and it's back to where they were. Same thing if they go to File->Accounts if they are signed out and try to sign in they get asked for Email and then it just closes and they are still signed out. It's not for all users and everyone is using the same Office 365/2016 installation, monthly channel 1903, we use ADFS2KViews0likes0CommentsEmails stop syncing on iPhone
We appear to be having issues with the Microsoft Authenticator app. A number of people have reported that their emails are not syncing on their phones (particularly with iPhone users on the built-in Mail app). There is no automatic pop-up from the Authenticator when this issue occurs- users have to manually enter phone their settings to get their email to sync up by clicking "Enter Password" after which it signs them in automatically without having to put in their password. This seems to be a common thing, and was wondering if anyone had any idea on how to stop this from happening. Reply1.6KViews0likes1Comment
