A major step backwards: Classic Outlook vs. New Outlook on changing the "From" sending account
The Issue: In New Outlook, changing the "From" address after you have already started composing an email message opens a new, blank message window, forcing you to copy and paste your original message subject, contents, and attachments. This is an irritating change from Classic Outlook, where you could simply switch the sending account from a dropdown menu while keeping your drafted message fully intact. Expected behavior: When changing the "From" address while composing a mail message, it should simply be updated to the newly selected account, and the body, subject line, and any attachments of the message you are writing at that time should be preserved within the same composition window. The Classic Outlook Way (The Right Way) to Switch the "From" address: For years, my workflow in Classic Outlook has been simple. I click "New Email." The new message window opens, and the "From" field shows the currently selected account. I start writing my message. Then I realize I wanted to send it from another mail account. I click the "From" button, and a dropdown menu appears with all my accounts. I pick the one I want, and I'm good to go. The message content is untouched, it's all still there. Changing the From-address is a two-second action that is intuitive and efficient. The "New Outlook" Way (The Baffling Way) to Switch the "From" address: Now, I try to do the exact same thing in the "New Outlook." I click "New Email." The new message window opens, and the "From" field shows the currently selected account. I start writing my message. Then I realize I wanted to send it from another mail account. I click the "From" button, and a dropdown menu appears with all my accounts. I pick the one I want. But then, after choosing a different From-address, a completely blank new message is opened. And I have to copy/paste everything from the message window I was writing in before to the newly opened message window. So annoying! This feels like a classic case of simplifying the UI to the point where it loses critical functionality. What used to be a simple dropdown selection in Classic Outlook is now an irritating multi-step process in New Outlook. It seems to be an intentional design choice, but it's one that ignores the reality of how users with multiple mail accounts actually work.52Views1like1CommentMigration Email to 365
Hello, I would like to transfer my email account from our host Siteground to Microsoft's business account. This is because the conventional hoster only has limited email storage and is almost full. The provider Siteground supports IMAP. I have several questions: How do I proceed now? Do I have to transfer the domain first and then can I also transfer the email account in the second step? Once the transfer has been completed, can I create additional email addresses via Siteground or do I now have to create all emails via 365 (which will probably incur costs)? Thank you!163Views0likes1CommentWebinar Confirmation Mail: English instead of German
When I create a Webinar with Microsoft Teams (Mac) in German and a participant register himself on the public registration page, the confirmation mail to the participant will be sent in English instead of German language, even the attached calender file is in German. Is there any solution for this, so Confirmation Mail itself is sent in German (or at least same language as the register page). Hello, I wrote a program in Java that monitors an inbox and retrieves new incoming emails and, after successful processing, moves them to a Processed folder. For a few emails, retrieving the MIME content of a message fails and they are moved to an error directory. If I move the emails back to the inbox by hand/in Outlook, they are processed normally. If I move them programmatically or via a Prower Automate flow, the problem remains and they cannot be processed. Ideas? DankeEnable sharing a webpage via Windows' default mail app (e.g. Outlook desktop app)
Edge currently only supports sharing a webpage via the Windows Mail app. The Share-button in Edge does not allow sharing a webpage via Windows' default mail client app. (For example: Microsoft Outlook desktop version). Please enable sharing webpages to Windows' default mail client app? There are various 3rd party extensions which do this, so it must be possible to build this into the browser, I would assume.Solved5.1KViews1like19Commentsmail queue disaster recovery on Edge Transport
Hi Guys I've an interesting question regarding the mail.que in an edge transport server. Recently was tasked to recover some mail stuck in the mail.que on one of the edge transport servers from a domain that i do not access to. Following instructions from: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/mail-flow/queues/relocate-queue-database?view=exchserver-2019 I extracted the following files: • Mail.que • Trn.chk • Trn.log • Trntmp.log • Trn nnn.log • Trnres00001.jrs • Trnres00002.jrs I then booted up my own dummy edge transport server on my own domain. However, even though when i run the cmdlet, get-queue i only receive the submission queue with no messages. There are no other queues. I am confident that the mail.que has been mounted correctly and that the transport exchange service is reading from it. Also double checked to confirm that the mail.que database is not corrupted. I have the following questions: 1. Can i view the mail.que from another domain if i mount it in my own domain? 2. Does the transport edge server have be connected to an internal mail server in order to show the queues? 3. Does my dummy transport edge server have to be the exact same CU version? Could this be the cause of the queues nit showing up? Thanks Edward1.3KViews0likes0Comments
