guest access

I was Ignite for the first time and an MVP, Chris is memory serves, suggested I post this here because he had not heard of this kind of an issue before. The end result we are looking for is for a public school director needs to access a team as a guest in you local government's tenant. She receives and accepts the invite successfully in our tenant and the logon is added to the drop down in the upper right corner like you would expect. She has a teams license in our tenant and is a member of our pilot team as well as a volunteer organization's team that she is a member of. When she hits the drop-down list and select's our local government's option she is prompted to logon again. I am not sure if I redacted too much but there is a screen cap of it in the top part of the inserted pic at the bottom along with the two following prompts. LMK if I took too much data out... Anyway, some other tidbits that may be useful are that they use MFA where we do not for everyone. Both her and I have access to the same team and both have the same issue, even though I have MFA turned on. The last page has some data that might be useful and is included at the bottom. My main takeaway there was error code 4c7, which may point to modern authentication. She is using the Teams app and has the same results both at home and school. The MVP I spoke with suggested there might be a strange interplay between our EDU tenant and what our local government is using, perhaps GCC. Thanks in advance to anyone who can point me in the right direction etc! If that doesn't work, try signing out and back in. desktop-… Error code - 4c7 There's a more permanent way to sign in to Microsoft Teams. We run afterschool programs that rely heavily on volunteers. We have about two to three students in a group with each volunteer. Each group has been given their own link, however our program coordinator, who was the organizer of each group/teams meeting, has to go to every link to allow them into the meeting. We have clicked on the meeting preferences to allow everyone in without having to wait in the lobby, however unless the meeting organizer is present, they still have to sit in the lobby. Is there anyway to change that?Solved381KViews0likes23CommentsDisable Chat Messaging in Teams Meeting
Hi all, We've been having issues with students misusing the chat section during remote learning (Teams Meeting). It would be great to have the ability to disallow chat in meetings either during the meeting setup, or in the admin portal. Hello everyone, I am currently managing a huge project for which I need to set up all the meetings via Teams, but I am not meant to attend all of them. For now I have to start all the meetings myself as the organiser before dropping out, which is annoying. Is there a way for me to set up a Teams meeting in which people from my organisation (who have an Office 365 licence) and other external users (without Teams installed or an Office 365 licence) can attend without me having to start it off? I know that I can change the meeting settings to allow everyone to bypass the lobby, but it seems at least one member of my organisation has to conncect for all the other users to be able to start the meeting. However, some of these meetings are only for external users and it doesn't start until someone from my organisation connects. Does anyone know if what I'm asking is yet possible on Teams? Thanks Pierre334KViews2likes38CommentsHow to BCC guests to a Teams meeting?
Hi all, I wish to invite up to 20 guests to a Teams meeting. To my horror, when I added in their non-MS email and sent them the invite to the meeting, the email shows every attendees' email address including the other guests' email addresses! I'm sure I've offended many people with that invite! So the question here: How can I invite external guests to a Teams meeting using BCC so as to protect their email addresses? In Zoom, we can simply send the guest the room ID or meeting link and password protect the meeting. There is no invite link in Teams (at least it is not obviously available) and I cannot password protect the meeting. Please advise. Thanks!Solved309KViews2likes21CommentsSwitching organizations in Teams desktop client
I am a member of two organizations, org 1 (role: owner and admin of my organization) and org 2 (guest of my customer's organization). Until most recently I was able to switch to org 2 with the dropdown menu on the left of the profile pic - this menu disappeared. I can still access org 2 via the mobile client. Any suggestions?Solved164KViews6likes32CommentsUnable to switch to guest organization
Hi, I just started working with a customer that uses Microsoft Teams and was invited to join their team. I can see the team of the customer, but for some reason I am unable to switch to it. When trying to do so I get thrown out with the message that I don't have access to this org. Below you can see screenshots of this. I believe something is wrong with my account, as the customer tried remove and re-add me, and it still doesn't work. Can you help me out by checking my account status?Solved131KViews2likes29CommentsWhiteboard with external participants
Hi. First post...be gentle... I'd really like to know if there is a roadmap for introducing the Whiteboard functionality in Teams calls with external participants. At the moment when we start a Whiteboard session, it just states "For now only members of this org can participate. Soon, you'll be able to too!". So...when is soon? Thanks, Mark.128KViews7likes41CommentsCannot Add Guest Team Member to Private Channel
This is a strange issue… I have 48 Guest users spread across 14 teams; some of these Guests are part of more than one team, and these this setup has been running without issue for about six months. I recently setup private channels in each of my teams and began adding relevant Guests, but some Guest members no longer appear in the directory listing when adding members. For example: Joe User (Guest) is a member of My Team, but when I attempt to add him to My Private Channel, I can see other members in the dropdown list (including other guests), but not Joe. This affects 6 guest members across private channels in three of my teams, and to be clear: all of my teams have private channels, and all of those private channels include a subset of all of my guest users. And if that's not strange enough: Joe User (Guest) can be added successfully to *some* private channels, but not others, so the issue doesn't lie with a particular guest or a particular channel/team. I can't figure out a pattern. Has anyone ran into an issue like this? I'm well below any thresholds on channel limits or guest user limits, too.Solved128KViews3likes20CommentsQR Code
Hi to anyone that can help. As a business we use Teams and I'm looking to see if we can activate a screen call simply by someone scanning a QR code. This will then automatically take them into a conference call. Is this something that is out there and am I behind the times?118KViews0likes9Comments
