external access
15 TopicsSetting External access options via powershell
Hi. I'm trying to set External access for Teams, but via powershell. Specifically the "Users can communicate with Skype users" option. I can successfully set the "Users can communicate with other Skype for Business and Teams users", but I can't find a solution for the other option ("Users can communicate with Skype users"). I have read numbers of blog postings, tutorials for the mentioned subject but it just doesn't work, the option won't switch. Most mentioned powershell command for doing it, is the following: Set-CsExternalAccessPolicy -EnableOutsideAccess $False Set-CsExternalAccessPolicy -EnableFederationAccess $False Set-CsExternalAccessPolicy -EnablePublicCloudAccess $False Set-CsExternalAccessPolicy -EnablePublicCloudAudioVideoAccess $False And while the script changes the targeted parameters successfully, the switch in the GUI still remains in "ON" position. I Have set the switch to the "OFF" position by hand, but underlying parameters quoted in code block above, haven't changed (their values retrieved with Get-CsExternalAccessPolicy powershell command. So, from that, it seems that those commands aren't for that option after all.. Any help is appreciated. Br20KViews0likes11CommentsCannot add external users to sharepoint site group
I need help I am trying to share a site using option below https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/turn-external-sharing-on-or-off Allow sharing only with the external users that already exist in your organization's directory Allow sharing only for external users who are already in your directory. These users may exist in your directory because they previously accepted sharing invitations or because they were manually imported, such as through https://docs.microsoft.com/azure/active-directory/active-directory-b2b-what-is-azure-ad-b2b. (You can tell an external user because they have #EXT# in their user name.) I created the user (GUESTA) in Azure and they accepted the invite to join the org as a guest https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/b2b/what-is-b2b PROBLEM 1 : GUESTA cannot be found in sharepoint when trying to add them to the site visitors group. (see attached) WORKAROUND : If I send the site URL to GUESTA via email they can "request access" to the site at which point they do show up for that site only. PROBLEM 2 : even after the workaround GUESTA is cannot be found for any other site, only the single site. ANSWER NEEDED : how can I make GUESTA show up and be selectable for all sites?Solved19KViews0likes8CommentsExternal presenter can't join live-event after it started?
Is this a bug or a known problem? A collegue of mine was invited to give a presentation on a project in a different Tenant (Let's call it Organisation B). The live-event was hosted by Organisation B, the organisation had multiple presenters each giving a presenation every 30 minutes. My collegue was second in line to give a presentation, when she wanted to join the live-event 5-10minutes before it was her turn. The connection kept failing, giving an error after 1-2minutes saying she couldn't make connection. Since we also host live-events regularly, I wanted to make sure what the cause of this problem would be. If it isn't possible (as a presenter) to join after the live-event started, why isn't it? Thanks in advance for any replies! *Since this wasn't on my computer and the live-event is already over, I can't share any screenshots.*Solved12KViews1like18CommentsChat history with external users
Behaviour when you don't see an old chat in the Chat list 1. With tenant users when you start a new chat it brings up the latest conversation you had with them, 2. With external users it doesn't seem to happen and also when using the chat filter I don't get any results for that conversation (searching for the email address of the external user). Is this conversation also stored in the user's mailbox and only findable via eDiscovery?Solved9.1KViews1like3CommentsSecurity Researchers Demonstrate Exploit Against Teams External Access
Security researchers JumpSec demonstrated a weakness in Teams External Access by showing how to send malware to users via a federated chat. The exploit depends on another weakness in that attackers can interfere with the set of policy controls transmitted by the Teams server to clients. It’s yet another reason why Microsoft 365 tenants should restrict external access to the set of domains they really want to chat with. https://office365itpros.com/2023/06/26/teams-external-access-exploit/4.7KViews0likes0CommentsExternal Access - What can external users do?
Dear community, I just got external access working with both test tenants that my organization has. However, I want to clarify some things about what external access opens up for other users from other organizations (in case of "open federation"). My questions are the following: 1. In case of "Open Federation / no blocked domains": Can anyone who has access to my emailaddress, has Teams and external access with "open federation" as well, just send me a chat message, without any form of me having to accept that incoming chat message? 2. In case of "Open Federation / no blocked domains": Can anyone who has access to my emailaddress, has Teams and external access with "open federation" as well, just give me an ad hoc call via their Teams chat, without any form of me having to accept that incoming call? I am asking this just to make sure I get this straight. Because if there is no sort of security in the sense of blocking incoming external calls or messages when using external access in combination with "Open federation", then potentially you open up a new channel for spamming and phishing right? Some of our external users are experiencing weird behavior when trying to sign-in. Login flow is "User browse the site url --> enter their external signin address --> Choose 'Microsoft Account' as the account type --> Enter their password --> They get redirected to organizations ADFS sign-on page --> user enter their password and keep getting the wrong userid or password message. I have checked in AAD portal and user is added as a 'Guest'. However, I can't understand why user is getting redirected to ADFS SSO page. As an external user with Microsoft account, user should authenticate with Microsoft Live ID, not with ADFS.4.5KViews0likes2CommentsKommunikation mit externen Teams-Nutzern
Solved1.9KViews1like2CommentsNot able to find external users from my organizational teams account

Good day I have shared a library in SharePoint online with an external user, the user logs in with his Microsoft account and can access the documents, however he can only open a document in the browser and not in excel or word directly to edit. the Library and site collection is set to open in client application. External user has edit permissions. Our company is using Office 365, is there a way user can edit directly in client application and not online? Also would it be possible for the user to sync the shared library? Thank you1.7KViews0likes4Comments
