Chat history with external users
Behaviour when you don't see an old chat in the Chat list
1. With tenant users when you start a new chat it brings up the latest conversation you had with them,
2. With external users it doesn't seem to happen and also when using the chat filter I don't get any results for that conversation (searching for the email address of the external user).
Is this conversation also stored in the user's mailbox and only findable via eDiscovery?
It is stored in the mailbox, but in a folder that's not exposed to mail clients, so it's hard to get to it. And yes, this area if Teams definitely needs improvements - go vote on the existing items at UserVoice.

Where all the other Teams conversations are stored 🙂 Yes, you can use MFCMAPI to get to it, but since it stores each reply as individual item, putting a conversation back together is a very crappy experience...
Back at Ignite they announced some eDiscovery improvements, namely threading for Teams, but you need to purchase the Advanced eDiscovery SKU for that...
