The Issue: Recently our team has experienced issues with only one of our many lists. Our Team (modern) Calendar that is made from a modern list. When we attempt to open an item on the list, it opens up the form as blank. We noticed that when this happens, if we create a new item, it never syncs to the list/calendar. Eventually it will give us a prompt from the view drop down that says "Items with sync issues". I've attached a screenshot of the calendar where I had previously added a test event to the 28th. The workaround: Only when we clear our cookies will this error go away. But shortly after (within an hour) it will give us blank forms again and our entries won't sync. Again we have to use incognito in Chrome or clear our cookies. Clearing cache alone doesn't fix it and none of our Chrome extensions appear to affect this problem. The circumstances: It's important to note that our SharePoint site uses had roughly 20 different lists but of those lists, only 5 of them have a lot of entries. Between all of our lists, my best estimation is around 4500 items. More than half of these lists have custom JSON added to them and there's well over a 1000 items with single images attached to them. Is it possible that the sync issues are coming from data limitations? If so, how can I confirm that?2.2KViews0likes1CommentSynced SharePoint Excel File opens under "System32" user, instead of under my local username
Hi, I'm syncing my SharePoint files to my desktop using SharePoint Online's "sync to desktop" feature. When I open windows explorer, the navigation bar shows the following path for the synced directory that I want to access... C:\Users\johndoe\MyCompany\MySharePointSite\MyFolder However, when I double-click the MyExcelFile.xlsx file that I want to open, and I use the =Info("Directory") function in Excel, I unexpectedly get the following path... C:\Users\system32\MyCompany\MySharePointSite\MyFolder Oddly, if I open a new instance of excel, and drag & drop the MyExcelFile.xlsx from the same exact windows explorer location, the =Info("Directory") function gives me the file path that I would expect to see... C:\Users\johndoe\MyCompany\MySharePointSite\MyFolder I'm using the =info("Directory") function in the MyExcelFile.xlsx to create a relative file path for querying data elsewhere within my SharePoint site via Power Query, and this "system32" issue is a bit of a pain. Does anyone know of a way to force excel to open under the "johndoe" username by default when I double-click the file, instead of "system32"? Hoping someone can help. A client has SharePoint setup such that folders can be created but not deleted or renamed. However, when the user syncs it to file explorer, all the permissions disappeared and they can rename, delete and upload. Any guidance would be much appreciated.814Views0likes0Commentsrenamed synced site document folders - old folders are reappearing
Hello! Let me try to untangle this in words and a screenshot. The folders appearing as new folders are the old folder names. The original folders with new names are still here, but the old ones are reappearing. It says they are modified by a team member who is synced, and the modify date is several weeks ago. I'm going to guess this is a sync issue of some kind, but I can't wrap my head around how to advise a solution. Our team is new to SharePoint and this is one of about a thousand questions of how to get the team synced with our site documents without major issues. We are all mac users—does anyone know of a comprehensive resource on how to get everyone synced without these kinds of errors? Many thanks from a frazzled designer!1.5KViews0likes1CommentEditing file with specific access through sync folder
Scenario: User has read access to a library, but for one file has been granted edit access. They can edit the file through web just fine. When they utilize Sync, the library is synchronized properly using OneDrive. File explorer view shows locks next to all files except the one. However attempts to make changes to that that offline copy fail with message: "AUTOSAVE FAILED We have not been able to save your changes. Please save to a different file in order to keep all your changes". Attempts to Save As directly to the library fail. If you stop sync, then the user is able to open the file directly from their desktop program and edit. But with the Sync copy in place it creates this problem. It seems that: 1. While the synchronized library files seem to be aware of permissions, OneDrive isn't configured to properly handle that and gets stopped at the fact that the user does not have edit access for the entire library. 2. This problem somehow causes issues even with attempts to open the file with a desktop application, even if they are opening it directly from the SharePoint online source. This part has been intermittent. Sometimes I get a change to save, but with errors that try to indicate it's not working even when it does. When I remove the sync, the problems go away. We do maintain version history. Possibly that is playing a role, but the user with edit access should (and can) create new versions. Just wanted to feel out whether this was known behavior and if I'm missing something. Generally I am steering away from use of Sync. There are however some use cases that are ideally suited for it.1KViews0likes0Commentssharepoint in file exporer
I have a Teams SharePoint site linked through in File Explorer. I've dropped a file in one of the SharePoint folders in File Explorer. However, it is not visible in Teams Files view (or in SharePoint Online). Conversely, the files that are in that folder are not viewable from File Explorer. This is the case with all the folders on this SharePoint site. Any ideas?873Views0likes1CommentSharePoint Library Sync Issues
I have a simple document library in SharePoint online: No checkout required No validation A number of required metadata fields are present I see the following oddity when using sync: Library works as expected opening/editing and saving in Word online and desktop client. After I choose "Sync" in the document library the files are successfully synced to desktop. Now if I choose "Open in desktop client" from SharePoint the file is read only. Remove sync from OneDrive. Now if I choose "Open in desktop client" I can edit and save with no issues. Why does using the desktop client when sync is enabled make the file read-only, am I missing something or is there an issue here? Thanks.Solved2.9KViews0likes2CommentsDocuments from Document Sets open in Read-Only
Hello, I read a couple of older posts that reference files opening as read-only from document sets with metadata attached. In the document set I've got a new entry form where the user inputs their data and then uploads their files as desired after the folder is created. I've got the same issue even when check-in/check-out is disabled. Is there a work around for this issue now? I ask because we want to work in the desktop client app (Excel, Word, etc.) Thanks922Views0likes0CommentsIssues syncing mpp and sharepoint
I have a Microsoft project 2016 file. I sync this file back to a SharePoint list. To begin my daily process, I always begin by going to my SharePoint list in browser(internet explorer), and click on "Open with project". This opens the sharepoint list in my local copy of Project. I then make any required bulk edits in my mpp, and save it. This triggers a sync back to SharePoint. It works correctly a number of times, but sometimes when I hit save in my mpp, get error : Sorry, we couldn’t sync the tasks list to the SharePoint site. Please make sure that: The SharePoint site is running and is not in read-only mode you have sufficient privileges to sync to this SharePoint site The tasks list is still available and its name hasn't changed None of the above apply to me, and I am not sure why sometimes my mpp just fails to sync. This is specially a big frustration, when I just finishing spending an hour with lots of changes, and then mpp fails to sync and I have to throw away all the edits. I also think this error is coming up more and more frequencty over the weeks. Till date, I have tried a lot of possible solutions, but non worked. I tried opening from different browser, clearing my cache, opening the mpp directly from site assets, checking the file out to me etc. Please help as this is affecting the productivity of our org.4.1KViews0likes3Comments
