2072 Topicsnew Exchange Installation Autodiscover
Hi I have had a lab environment and suspended this to get experience with a new setup. Old setup had a ADFS server in place. New lab setup is based on Windows Server 2025, 1 DC, 1 Exchange server SE. Installation is ok. Client is a Windows 11 machine with Outlook 2019. DC is synching to EntraID. All based on German language. GPO for autodiscover is set. As well the DNS records. Post installation is the part where I am have an issue at. At least in the part of the autodiscover. Adding the primary mail address is always leading in pointing to the company authentification page adfs.xy.com which was in the old lab in place. I cant see any DNS entry neither on my external DNS provider nor internal (brand new setup) and have no clou where to search further. Wensearch did also not lead me to any solution. And a workaround to disable autodiscover is not my goal. Therefore I am happy to get any idea where to look at to get read of the adfs link. Appreciate your support. This is incredibly frustrating, to put it mildly. Over 48 hours ago, I changed the passwords for my three email accounts. Once I made the change, I could log into Hotmail and see my emails and everything. Now, when I try to access them through my mobile phone, it says the password I'm entering is incorrect (obviously, I'm entering it correctly for each account). I also had access on my PC. Just in case, I thought, "Okay, I'll change it again," and when I try to change it through my mobile phone, it says "Not available at the moment, please try again later." I thought it was just a one-off... A while passes, I try again, and it still says the same thing. On one of the accounts, after trying several times with the code they sent me, it locked the account. They told me to wait 24 hours and it wasn't fixed. Then they told me to wait a week because after so many attempts to remove the "block" (you can check if it's blocked by entering it in the help section)... Are we crazy or what? This afternoon I spoke with Spanish support, and the woman who helped me really tried. We tried to log in and change the password through a VPN, but this time I didn't receive the code, so she opened a ticket and escalated it to a higher level, telling me to wait 3 to 5 business days. I know what that smells like: wait and then the same thing again. The real surprise was that I couldn't access my other two accounts for 48 hours, so I thought, "Okay, I'll check." I entered the password correctly, but it still said it was incorrect (even though it was correct), and I tried mobile verification, but it wasn't available... even using a VPN. I checked the status of both accounts in the help section, and they said there were no problems with them. Why am I never going to be able to access my three Hotmail accounts again? What's the solution? It doesn't matter if I use a VPN, if the account is blocked, or if it's unblocked. It's always the same. It doesn't accept the correct password -> you try to reset it -> you don't receive a code -> if you try again, it blocks you. Can someone tell me WHAT I NEED TO DO TO FIX THIS ATROCITY? Because waiting is clearly pointless, since the other accounts aren't blocked and I can't log in or reset my password. Furthermore, the account I blocked for trying to access it was unblocked after 24 hours, but it was still the same until it was blocked again. The other two accounts have gone 48 hours without me trying to log in, and I'm still stuck. MICROSOFT, do you plan to offer any solution other than "waiting"? I'm sorry if my English isn't very clear, I'm Spanish and I use a translator30Views0likes0CommentsHas Your Organization Set Up a Viva Engage Community for Microsoft 365 Collaboration?
Hi everyone! As a trainer, I often get great questions during my Microsoft 365 sessions. While I share answers live, only the attendees benefit—leaving many others without that valuable info. I’ve already set up a Microsoft Learning Pathways SharePoint site as a resource, but I’m exploring ways to extend knowledge-sharing beyond the classroom.Has anyone created or participated in a Viva Engage community to share tips, answer questions, and collaborate around daily Microsoft 365 tools? I’d love to hear about your experiences, best practices, or ideas on how to maximize impact and reach across your organizations. Thanks in advance for sharing! Let’s empower everyone to get more from Microsoft 365.😃105Views1like3CommentsOutlook Web App - Move to no longer moves focus to the search box
Hi, I'm requesting a change back to a previous behavior in Outlook Web App for the "Move to" button. Previously, I could click this button and the small search box was selected as text focus. This means I could click once and then type the name of a folder to which I could move that email. Now, clicking the "Move to" button shows the list of recent folders, but does not move the cursor into the search box. Thus, it requires an additional click to search for a folder. The previous workflow is more efficient and please consider reverting to that behavior! -MMSolved1.9KViews5likes6CommentsExchange database dismounted due to NTFS file extent limit reached – unexpected outage
Hi everyone, We experienced a serious outage on our Exchange 2016 server recently, and I wanted to share what we found during the root cause analysis – in case it helps someone else avoid the same scenario. Summary: After digging deep, we discovered that the issue was caused by the NTFS file system hitting its internal file extent limit on the .edb file. Once this threshold was reached, the database could no longer grow, and the system dismounted the database unexpectedly. No prior warning, just service interruption. Details: The .edb was around 1.2 TB in size. This isn’t a limit on database size itself — it’s about how fragmented the file is on disk. Once NTFS couldn’t track any more extents, the database stopped working. Microsoft doesn’t publish a clear fix for this; only scattered references to similar behavior in past cases. What we did: Created a fresh, clean database. Manually moved user mailboxes into the new DB. The old database couldn't be mounted anymore, so we brought the system live without historical mail – just to maintain continuity. We're now working on extracting data from the unmounted .edb using third-party tools. Looking for thoughts: Has anyone else hit the NTFS extent wall with Exchange? How do you monitor extent growth proactively? Did switching to ReFS solve this for you long-term? Open to any input or similar experiences – appreciate it in advance. Hello! Redirected to this forum from here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5617563/ol-desktop-link-broken-file-get-ol-app-for-ios-and See error description and attempt to solve it by following the link. For some reason, Windows clients in our organization can not follow the Outlook desktop client in-app link for getting Outlook for iOS or Android. (hybrid, no mailboxes in MS-cloud, only on prem) The link for getting the Outlook app for iOS and Android under File when logged into Outlook app does not seem to work.
