Hyperlinks

Hi everyone! I'm facing the following issue in SharePoint Online: When linking external pages (on an old SharePoint 2016 or on Engage) in the navigation or in the text of a news article (etc.) some of those links disappear after a while and when we try to re-insert the link, it doesn't get saved at all. At first we resorted to creating a new nav point and inserting the link there (which then worked) but this just isn't sustainable. Apart from that, hyperlinks in texts just unlink themselves and have to constantly be redone. I've read on here that in some cases of MAC users the links may contain the characters %E2%80%8B, which when removed solved the issue, however we don't use Macs and haven't found those characters in the links yet. Does anyone happen to know what this might be and how it can be solved? Thanks, Sarah758Views0likes1CommentPDF Viewer Internal Hyperlink Forward/Back buttons
Hi I read a lot science papers as PDFs in Edge. They are full of hyperlinks referring either to other parts of the paper, or to external resources. It is now possible to open an external link in a new tab (which was not possible in the old Edge), so that's great. However, beyond that, there is no ability go back from a followed internal hyperlink. E.g. I click on a link to a reference in the middle of a long paper, I get taken to the bibliography at the end of the same document, I now want to go back to where I was and I have to scroll back to find my place. Old Edge also didn't have this feature. Adobe's PDF Reader has separate back/forward buttons in addition to next/previous page buttons which allow one to follow the internal hyperlink history within the document. Something like this would be a great addition to the PDF reader. Maybe it would be enough to overload the browsers back/forward buttons here?12KViews8likes10CommentsHyperlink to a specific Excel sheet In Outlook
Hi, I would like to send an email with Outlook containing a hyperlink to a specific Sheet of an Excel Workbook to gain time and avoid the infamous "oopsie, I edited the wrong sheet". I am able to create an hyperlink using the Insert > Link > chose a document but when i try to click on Bookmark to chose a sheet an error occurs (sorry my SS are in French) What does Word have to do with anything ? I chose an excel file, i dont even have any Word document on my whole drive lol If I do the same thing in Excel, I am able to see the list of the tabs avaible in my workbook, as bookmarks If I attempt to edit my link "by hands" with the syntaxe My path/My file.xlsm#'My Sheet'!A1 (or to simply copy/paste the "address" Excel generate when I select the Sheet through the link creation insert menu) Outlook accepts my link, but when I select it, it's considered as an attached file (?) So of course, it's unable to find the source as its pointing toward a "file:/// ..." and I end up, once again on an error. The same link opened in Excel Excel opens the correct worksheet without any trouble. As of now, I am only able to create a link toward a "general" workbook, but i am unable to point to a specific sheet within it. Why is outlook unable to consider Worksheet as bookmarks when it is possible in Excel ? An what can i do to tell my coworkers "here Edit That Sheet" and they are prompted the right sheet in the right workbook in the right place. Thanks! NB : My company uses Microsoft Office Standard 2019, 1808 Tartofraises.3.1KViews0likes0CommentsTOC formatting as hyperlinks
Hi, I am using version 16.78 of Word on Macbook Pro. I have a document where I have a TOC which is customised, it worked fine up until now. The formatting doesn't match the style anymore, and just shows up as regular text, but as a hyperlink (blue and underlined). Clicking on it does send me to the correct heading, but it doesn't match the format style. I have removed, updated and reset the TOC, i've tried remaking the headings, I have deinstalled Word and reinstalled it again, nothing works. On Onedrive live online it does work normally, but not on my native app, even after reinstalling. My documents are saved one Onedrive, but it happens when I save Word documents that I stored locally. Does anyone know what to do to solve this?790Views0likes2CommentsHyperlink that are specified to my PC go to the web
Hello Today, I tried hyperlinks that previously worked before and now they're not working. The path for the folder is d:\test\tech\dell\dell configurations When I click on the link it opens up in a tab on the Internet. I created a share for the folder, and it worked. I checked permissions and I have full rights to the folder. I also tried each one separately of the following syntax for the path "d:\sfd\tech\dell\dell configurations" <d:\sfd\tech\dell\dell configurations> d:\sfd\tech\dell\dell%20configurations I decided to change the folder name to Dell Configs and it seemed to work. I want to keep the original name if possible. Any idea what is happening with these hyperlinks, and how I can fix it? Thanks in advance.350Views0likes0CommentsSearching for links to a domain within documents when the domain is not in the link label
Hi, I need to clean out links in documents to a domain that our company no longer owns. If the domain is in the link label, search will find the document. However, if the link label doesn't have contain the domain, search will not find the document. For example: the domain is abc.com, a link in the document is https://help.abc.com and the link is written as "visit Help"; if I search for abc or abc.com, search will not find the document. Hello community, I have a workbook that contains a table of insurance industry regulatory filings (called "master filings"). One of the columns provides a link to a PDF of the regulatory filing itself, for people that want to look at the original document. Can anyone help figure out how to carry those links over to a second workbook? Here's a breakdown of the situation: I am building a secondary workbooks that only have entries for regulatory filings that meet certain criteria. For example, I want to build a workbook that only shows the life insurance filings captured in "master filings" and not other types of insurance filings. I successfully used an IF statement to get this data into the second worksheet (basically: if type=life_insurance, insert row,""). The IF statement works for taking the actual text of all desired cells matching the life insurance reg filings into the new worksheet. However, one cell that contains a link to the online PDF of the actual regulatory filing does not send along the link. So in the master workbook, I have a working hyperlink in the word "link", but when it gets carried over to the new workbook, the hyperlink isn't there; only the text for "link" comes along. Does anyone know how to get Excel to bring the hyperlink itself over to the new workbook? Many thanks for any advice! I have attached screenshots showing an example.2KViews0likes2Comments
