I am no longer surprised by the level of blatant self-promotion of Microsoft products on Windows 11, I'm utterly dismayed by how poorly it performs in almost all categories, but even by these unfathomably low standards, this one takes the biscuit: Today I noticed that the utterly dysfunctional start menu of Windows 11 (please just give us back Windows 10, that was okay-ish?) has only 1 button for 3 completely unrelated items, and I quote from my settings: "show recommended files at start, recent files in file Explorer, and items in jump lists". Is thinking among developers at Microsoft so basal that no-one has thought that we might want separate control over these items? I think it's fair to say there has been sufficient kick back to Microsoft's attempts to promote its own products in the start menu, but here they've grouped together 3 completely unrelated elements and asking us to choose all nothing. To be clear: I don't ever want a single recommendation from Microsoft on my computer (which I have to use for work, otherwise I would be elsewhere), but I do find recent files kind of useful. Is that really that mind-blowingly surprising? Please tell me that there is somewhere else where I can separate these out and choose one but not the other. Many thanks.18Views0likes1CommentWindows narrator keeps turning on.
I just completed 2 windows updates this morning and since then, when the computer "goes to sleep" and I wake it, the narrator program starts to run. I shut it off but it will turn back on the next time it goes to sleep again. I checked the task manager/start up and narrator is not listed in there. I'm running Windows 11 and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.67Views0likes3CommentsDESIGNER only mkes 1 design not 4

Will someone please help me on this. I had access to Agent Mode in Excel, through the frontier add-in for Excel Labs and now I can no longer access it on desktop app or web. I have a 365 personal plan and it includes Copilot. Not sure if it matters, I have Copilot and Microsoft 365 Copilot apps installed. Everything I have found online doesn't work. The Excel Labs shows Agent Mode is no longer available through the Frontier add-in. It is not showing in Tools from the Copilot Chat either. I updated the app, opted in for Beta Testing and nothing. If giving any steps to try please list each step. Please help. ThanksSolved173Views0likes3CommentsWindows 10 still better than 11
So dear Microsoft, don't scare us hundreds of millions of Windows 10 users that you will stop supporting it and don't force us to switch to a worse system - Windows 11. ! When in the supposedly more modern Windows 11 system engineering, calculation, simulation, graphic, assembly, 3D rendering, animation programs will run as fast or faster as in Windows 10, and when Games will run faster than in Windows 10, we will think about switching. Currently, Windows 10 is often a dozen or so percent faster in many games and programs! Or better say Windows 11 is even a dozen or so percent slower than Windows 10 :) You have a problem with programmers/coders/developers, I guess, problems with code optimization, there are probably a lot of programming errors in the Kernel that this system works slower than the older Windows 10! ;) Or other problems "under the hood" that the more modern system works slower than the old one. (so MS don't force us to switch to a worse product from a better one :) I'm not even mentioning that W11 is good for amateurs, ;) a lot of things happen secretly.. enthusiasts prefer the more transparent Win10 :) It's easier to recognize what the system is doing..)1.3KViews3likes3CommentsAllow muting a person only for me
Sometimes I am in a meeting where one of the persons in the meeting is actually near me in the world outside the screen. In this case the sound is a bit maddening since there is a small delay between the sound from the person and the sound through the teams interface. In these cases, I would like to mute the person only for me since I am sitting near and can hear the person fine without headphones. Right now I need to takeoff headphones when the person is talking and putting it back as the person finishes talking.129KViews196likes153CommentsWindows 11 24H2/25H2 System Freeze After January 2026 Updates – Lenovo ThinkPad G2
