Hi, we recently encountered problems with printing multi-section documents. For example: a document with 3 sections, 10 pages each. I want to print pages from 5 to 15. Print >Settings > [Custom Print] > Pages: 5-15 > Print. Done. That always worked but it stopped now. The pages are not printed at all and there is no error message nor anything else. [Print All Pages] works. [Print Current Page] works. No problems with documents without sections. All other programs print normally as usual. The only solution I figured so far is to specify section numbers like p5s1-p15s2. But it is tedious and almost impossible with big documents having many sections. As a workaround it can be printed from a PDF export but there are some minor quality issues. The prints don't look the same. The same problem appeared on several computers. I don't know exactly when it started. Probably with some updates at the start of the year 2021. Is it some kind of intentional change or a bug? Is there any way to just print range of pages regardless of sections? Version: MS Office Professional Plus 2016 (16.0.13530.20132) 64bit Thanks.85KViews0likes42CommentsProblem opening (desktop)word docs in Onedrive (does work when opened via ODFB online)
Hi, A user has the following problem: When opening a word file which is in a onedrive folder (which is shared with her and which is synced with the onedrive tool) word will hang indefinite untill I close it again. It cannot open the file in this way. Diagnosis so far.... When going into the folder via file explorer and checking the path length (including filename): 200 chars. I know word has a path limit of 218. Tried repair word both quick and online option.--> Still does not work. Start word in safe mode and with the /a mode -->does not work DOES WORK when I pause the onedrive sync client DOES WORK when I go to the file with onedrive online and choose open in word (the desktop app) DOES WORK when I put the file one directory higher (shorter path) Does NOT work when I first open word and then navigate to it by open file dialog. BUT gives me an error saying "the document name or path is invalid (20190731XX%20MeetingMinutes%20test.docx)" DOES WORK when I open it on another pc in the exact same location (shared one drive folder) although I understand that in "c:\users\\\\....." the part is shorter in my case. BUT if I make a folder one dir higher and giveit long name and put the file in there it DOES work. So I do not believe it is the path length. I see in the splash screen of word that it is actually opening the file on https://xxx.sharepoint.com/personal/..... ??? This is difference from the local path I thought I was opening it from "c:\users\\...." ?? I am lost? I really like to understand what is going on here? Can someone shed a light on this? I know a simple solution would be to put the file some dirs higher but I want to understand what is going on to prevent future problems I use ODFB, office365, word 2016, sync tool 19.123.0624.000561KViews1like10CommentsEm Dash short cut not working in Word
I am using Windows 11 Pro on my Lenovo P14 laptop, and Windows 11 on my HP Pavillion x360. I often write in Word and insert Em dashes. CTRL+ALT+"-" (shortcut). Both machines have this setting automatically in Word's built-in shortcuts, however the Lenovo machine ignores the shortcut sequence and inserts nothing (the HP works fine). I have reinstalled the OS and Office Pro 16 MS Word on Lenovo, and nothing helps. Any suggestions?44KViews0likes3CommentsAuto log in to Word (or Office) 2016
Hello, We are looking for a way to make the login to Word 2016 with an Office 365 organisational account persistent for our users. Our users often use shared pc's to log into. The problem is they always have to manually log in to Word after logging into Windows. We don't have roaming profiles and use ADFS. Ideally there is a policy or script which can autologin the user into Office 2016 after logging into WIndows. Bart15KViews0likes6CommentsRight side of page missing in microsoft word
Hello, I really need help figuring out this problem. My document is 18x24 and when in Print Layout view, the right two inches of the page are not visible. When I center items to the page, it centers them to what is visible, as if the document is 18x22. When I open the document in Print Preview, it shows the full size. (You can see in the images I attached that the visible page in Print Layout is a different size than what appears in Print Preview). Please help! I have tried Design>Page Borders>Options> and then changing the "Measure from" drop down to "text," but it doesn't help. (I've also noticed that when I do this, it doesn't actually save any of these changes when I go back into the Page Borders menu).13KViews0likes4CommentsSeeking Solutions: Image Blurriness When Converting Word to PDF
I'm currently facing an issue where images become blurry when saving a Word document as a PDF. However, when I tried on other computers, this problem did not occur. Here are the steps I've tried to resolve the issue: Ensuring Correct Word Settings: Made sure the option "Do not compress images in file" is checked. Selected a higher value for resolution: "High Fidelity". Settings during 'Save As' PDF: Chose "Best for printing". Updated the Word Version: Current version: (16.0.5408.1001) MSO (16.0.5404.1000) 64-bit. Compared settings between the problematic computer and the ones without the issue. Switched Word Version: Changed to Word 2019, but the problem persists. Could you please assist me in identifying any other settings that might be changed? Thank you very much.10KViews0likes3CommentsWord 2016 - automatically highlight list of words
Hello, everyone, I would like to get rid of the following questions: In Word 2016, is it possible to store a list of words, which are then automatically color-coded by Word? Functionality would be similar to the search/replace function, but fully automatic (after the corresponding list has been defined). Is this a programming question? Application example for illustration: For example, if you have a German text and have it translated into English, there are a number of translation alternatives for individual words (Umsatz could be translated with revenue, sales or turnover, for example). With a manual glossary, the translation can be checked to see if the correct term has been used. With the help of the above-mentioned marking function, used in the German (original) text, the translator would already be visually informed that he needs to check the glossary. This would greatly simplify the process, especially with long glossaries (short glossaries could indeed use the proven Ctrl+F functionality on a manual basis). Any thoughts? Many thanks in advance!
