repair or replace windows11 operating system
I have a legit windows11 OS on my computer but it ran very slow. In trying to speed it up I have ended (or removed some critical files). For example, I deleted the WinZip capability and also my sound driver and other needed capabilities. To get windows11 working properly again (although slow) is it best to do some kind of repair or is it/can I download (reinstall) the ISO file from Microsoft? If I reinstall, do I need to delete anything before I reinstall? Petepete_39Jun 19, 2026Copper Contributor9Views0likes0CommentsClipboard History does not recognize the Delete key on Windows 11
I recently moved to Windows 11 (installed from scratch), and as soon as it was ready I activated the Clipboard History with the Win+V shortcut, since I really liked this feature on Windows 10. But after a short while I noticed the Windows 11 Clipboard History does not recognize the Delete key anymore. On Windows 10 this works: - Invoke the Clipboard History with Win+V - Scroll to the entry you want to delete with your arrow keys - Hit Delete on your keyboard and that entry will be removed from the history. Clipboard History remains open so you can repeat this for as many entries as you like. On Windows 11: - Invoke the Clipboard History with Win+V - Scroll to the entry you want to delete with your arrow keys - Hit Delete on your keyboard, then the Clipboard History closes with no error or message. If you invoke the Clipboard History again, the entry is still there. So apparently there are only two options on Windows 11 now, use the "Clear all" button to remove all the entries from the history. Or click the 3 dots next to each entry you want to remove and then click Delete, which is... annoying if compared to Windows 10. Is there a way to make the Delete key work again?wwddssJun 19, 2026Brass Contributor7.6KViews31likes41CommentsWhat actually happens when you uninstall this device in Windows 11 Device Manager?
I’ve always noticed the option to uninstall devices in Device Manager, but I’ve never dared to try it. What would happen if I uninstalled a device? Would the system automatically reinstall the driver?YatesGriffinJun 19, 2026Iron Contributor37Views0likes1CommentUnable to download apps from the Windows 11 Store
After opening the App Store and tapping to download or update an app, the progress bar gets stuck at “Downloading” 0% and doesn't move. Even after waiting for several hours, there's no change. I've tried clearing the App Store cache and resetting the network, but the problem persists.AsherBowieJun 19, 2026Iron Contributor27Views0likes1CommentWhy did my laptop suddenly become extremely sluggish and almost unusable?
My laptop has suddenly become extremely sluggish and almost unusable, with programs taking minutes to open, constant freezing, and high disk or CPU usage even when idle, and this started happening out of nowhere without any new software installations or hardware changes. Could someone help me diagnose the root cause by suggesting which system logs to check, what background processes might be misbehaving, or whether this could be a sign of failing storage, overheating, or malware, and what steps I can take to restore normal performance without reinstalling Windows?UmadoimJun 19, 2026Copper Contributor55Views0likes3CommentsWindows Update Fails to Install or Gets Stuck on Windows 11
The issues with my Windows 11 system where Windows Update either fails to install updates or gets stuck during the process, causing frustration and preventing my device from staying current. Despite multiple attempts to troubleshoot, the problem persists, and I haven't found a clear solution that resolves the issue completely, leaving my system vulnerable to security risks and missing out on new features.BenaminJun 19, 2026Copper Contributor36Views0likes1CommentIIs there a native way to backup and restore partition table
I'm having trouble with a couple of external drives that are periodically losing the partition table. While I continue to try and identify the root cause (not the subject of this post) I wonder if there is a native Windows 11 solution to backing up (and restoring) just the partition table of the drives? Thanks very much in advanceMS4TeePeeJun 18, 2026Iron Contributor15Views0likes0CommentsTaskbar icons not showing after reset and cache clear (tried all fixes)
Hi everyone, I’m having an issue where some of my Microsoft taskbar icons are not displaying (they appear blank), even though the apps themselves open normally. Other apps like Adobe and Canva appear not to be affected by this issue. This started after I reset my laptop. Before noticing the issue, I also deleted a large amount of cache files to free up space, which I suspect may have triggered the problem. Since then, I’ve worked through a lot of troubleshooting (with Copilot), including: Deleting and rebuilding the icon cache multiple times Restarting Windows Explorer Running ie4uinit.exe commands (ClearIconCache and show) Unpinning and re-pinning all taskbar apps Restarting multiple times Despite this, the issue is unchanged. Icons are still not showing, even for system apps like Copilot (see screenshot): I don’t have admin access (school-managed device), so I’m limited in what I can try. Has anyone seen this before or know what might be causing it? Could this be a corrupted user profile or a policy issue? Thanks in advance.18Views0likes2CommentsBluetooth devices fail to reconnect automatically after waking from sleep in Windows 11
After the computer wakes up from sleep mode, paired Bluetooth mice or keyboards often fail to reconnect automatically. Users must manually reconnect them in the Bluetooth settings or remove and then re-pair them to resume use, which affects work efficiency.RileyMurphyJun 18, 2026Iron Contributor26Views0likes1CommentFile Explorer Crashing or Freezing Frequently on Windows 11
