Border around right-click context menu – is this new or just a bug?
Switched back to the old context menu recently using Chris Titus's Windows util. Don't remember seeing a border around it before—is this a native Windows 11 thing now? Looks nice either way. Edit: It disappears after a restart. Seems to happen when I boot with both TV and monitor connected—output defaults to the TV, and when I switch to the monitor, the border shows up. Probably a scaling-related visual bug, though I have no clue how that affects the context menu. Somehow it does. Also noticed shortcut icons aren't showing the usual arrow indicator—everything in the screenshot except This PC, Recycle Bin, and folders is a shortcut. And some Windows-related icons in the context menu look glitched too.DanielHarveyAug 24, 2026Iron Contributor51Views0likes2CommentsSpeakers produce crackling and distorted sound
My PC speakers produce persistent crackling and distorted sound during audio playback, even at low volumes and across different applications. The issue occurs with both internal speakers and external headphones, and I have already tried updating audio drivers without any improvement.LorenzosdAug 24, 2026Copper Contributor67Views0likes3CommentsEnhanced Indexing has been disabled but still takes up a significant amount of disk space in Win11
The Windows Search Indexer often consumes a significant amount of disk I/O resources, especially when the system is idle or under light load. This issue persists even when the indexing is set to Classic mode and all non-essential folders are excluded from the search index. High I/O activity can slow down other processes, particularly on systems using HDDs, and can last longer than expected.MateoRobertsonAug 24, 2026Iron Contributor3Views0likes0CommentsPoint-in-Time restore saved my sanity
Was messing with Windhawk and broke my taskbar icons. Figured System Restore would fix it—except it didn't. Ended up in a GSOD loop that kept dumping me into WinRE. Tried everything, nothing worked. Had Point-in-Time restore enabled but never used it. Gave it a shot anyway. Took forever and got stuck at 21% for a while—thought I was done for. But it eventually finished and booted Windows back up perfectly, exactly as it was two days ago. System Restore failed. Point-in-Time saved it.JoshuaGarciaAug 24, 2026Iron Contributor5Views0likes0CommentsFile History has stopped functioning
My file history program has stopped functioning. I tried searching the internet for some of these error messages and I have not found anything that has a solution that works. I tried deleting the backup on my backup drive, and also deleting the file history data/configuration folders so it would "start fresh" and I still keep getting errors. Here are some of the errors: Also have gotten a bunch of different errors for "reparse points". This is one example. I tried to exclude some of these folders from the backup but it didn't seem to help. But how do I find and eliminate a "reparse point" so it doesn't cause the file history to fail? And why doesn't file history just ignore those folders and go on and back up everything else?TakketAug 24, 2026Tin Contributor1.6KViews4likes21CommentsWin11 Caps Lock state indicator in system tray disappears after lock screen
After locking and unlocking the screen, the Caps Lock indicator on the screen disappears. The indicator reappears only after you toggle Caps Lock again. This issue occurs on devices without a physical LED indicator, making it difficult to determine the Caps Lock status before entering a passcode or text after the system wakes up.NicholasLewisAug 24, 2026Iron Contributor4Views0likes0CommentsHow do I transfer an image to a PDF?

My USB-C monitor keeps disconnecting and reconnecting randomly on Windows 11, even though the cable and ports seem physically secure. The display will work fine for a while, then suddenly go black for a few seconds before coming back, and this happens repeatedly throughout the day.AadyaoouAug 24, 2026Tin Contributor21Views0likes1CommentWhy is the file name damaged on Windows 11?
Many of my file names have suddenly become corrupted, displaying garbled text, random symbols, or question marks instead of their original names. This issue affects files across multiple folders and drives, and I cannot open or rename them, making it impossible to access my important data.NaominyAug 24, 2026Tin Contributor20Views0likes1CommentPrinter only printing in a small strip after fresh Windows 11 install
Hey everyone, I just did a clean install of Windows 11 and reinstalled my printer, and since then everything I print comes out weird. Content only shows up in a tiny strip on the right side of the page while the rest stays blank. Even the Windows test page prints like this. I've already tried reinstalling the printer, printing a test page, and checking that the page size is set to A4, but nothing changed. Also made sure the paper size matches what's loaded, checked the print preview before sending it, and even tried printing from different apps—same result every time. Printer is an HP LaserJet MFP M126nw, OS is a fresh Windows 11 install, and I'm using the drivers Windows pulled automatically during setup. Anyone seen this before or know what might be causing it? Appreciate any help.FabianHanAug 24, 2026Tin Contributor23Views0likes1Comment
