Re: Review expiration date per document-level
JoostvdLinden Hi! Your understanding of how event-based retention works is correct. There currently is not a way to view the individual document expiration date. Please add this suggestion to our feedback portal: https://aka.ms/DLM/Feedback420Views1like0CommentsRe: Event based retention and event types
kmktnn Hi! The three event types are simply examples. You can add any event type that meets your needs. If you want to start the retention period based on the Employee arrival date, create an event type called Employee arrival. If you want to use employee departure, feel free to create one for that. Instructions: Start retention when an event occurs | Microsoft Learn Also, this isn't at all obvious, but you can add any KQL into the Asset ID box. So, if you want to use metadata or a content type in SharePoint, you can do that. Hi t_duarte, We definitely have these types of sessions and videos today. Please join the Customer Connection Program (CCP) to access past recording and get notified about future sessions: https://aka.ms/DLM/Connect We can't post these types of sessions publicly anymore because of privacy laws - A Teams recording shows the names of the people attending. As I mentioned before, sadly the pervious recordings are permanently lost. We also just got added to the Security Community webinar series and our first webinar, Getting Started with Deploying Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle and Records Management, is on January 23rd. You can learn more and register here: https://aka.ms/SecurityCommunity. Lastly, we use our Data Lifecycle and Records Management ninja training page to have one place with all training content, including videos: https://aka.ms/DLM/NinjaTraining Since content is scattered in multiple places this is the one place where you can see everything.559Views0likes0CommentsRe: looking for missing webinar video on records management
Hi t_duarte, sadly, our webinars up until early 2022 were recorded and stored in a 3rd party application. In mid-2022 the person decided to cancel the subscription and all the recordings were lost. I spent hours with the 3rd party company trying to get them back with no success. Can you please let me know what information you'd like to find? Maybe I can suggest a different video, or we can create one. Please @me so I get notified of your reply. Thank you!606Views1like2CommentsRe: Changing "retention type" on an existing retention label in MS Purview
ellan1537 The records management product team does not recommend using PnP to work with retention labels. Please use the supported methods in the official documentation: https://aka.ms/DLM/CSOM. Hi Troy99 - yes it does, although there are some advanced retention policy features, such as adaptive scopes, that aren't available in business premium. You can see a detailed feature by feature breakdown of licensing here: https://aka.ms/DLM/Licensing Thanks! Erica884Views0likes0CommentsRe: Adaptive scope syntax
Hi MC_Edwards, There is an error in the setup. Here are the steps: Create an adaptive scope. Choose user. Use the query: IsInactiveMailbox -eq "True" Create a retention policy. Configure the settings to retain for 2 years then delete. On the "scope" step of the wizard, choose adaptive scope, then select the scope you created in step #1. The policy will only apply to mailboxes included in the adaptive scope, so therefore only inactive mailboxes. For the active user policy, I would follow the same steps, except use this query for the adaptive scope, just to ensure there is absolutely no overlap: IsInactiveMailbox -eq "False" Here's a blog post about working with adaptive scopes + mailboxes: Using Adaptive Policy Scopes to Apply M365 Retention to Shared, Resource, and Inactive Mailboxes - Microsoft Community Hub2.3KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Highlight Cursor During Presentations
Hi Pawel, most organizations are likelier to allow you to install an app built by Microsoft rather than a random 3rd party app like "app mouse pointer highlight in Microsoft store." I would try submitting a request to install this Microsoft software and see how it goes.21KViews1like1CommentRe: Highlight Cursor During Presentations
There is a free Microsoft Windows utility called PowerToys that can highlight the mouse cursor. Windows manages the mouse so I don't think it's something Teams could provide. More information: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/powertoys/mouse-utilities#mouse-highlighter To zoom in on a portion of your screen, use the Sysinternals tool called ZoomIt. Sysinternals is a Microsoft owned utility suite for managing Windows environments at scale. Find it here: ZoomIt - Sysinternals | Microsoft Learn And finally, way after this question was originally posted, a laser pointer was added to Microsoft Teams 🙂: Laser point or draw on PowerPoint slides in Microsoft Teams meetings - Microsoft Support42KViews1like3CommentsRe: Published retention label policies only showing in Outlook and not in Word or Excel application
Hi javedhakim - retention labels currently do not have the ability to be shown in office applications. We would love to add it but need the Office team to prioritize it. Please upvote the feature idea here: Provide The Ability To Apply Retention Labels Within Office 365/Microsoft365 Desktop Apps & Apps On The Web · Community1.1KViews1like0CommentsRe: How to change the compliance-description for retention labels (the grey text below the label name)?
Hi tgraham-legalops, Thanks for confirming! The grey text will always display the settings of the current label, not the future label after the 6 months. But, I think there is a bug that displays "delete" instead of "relabel". We actually are considering removing the grey text completely. We hear a lot of feedback that the end user shouldn't see the retention period and see only the label name. Any opinion on this? I will alert the feature PM of the display issue. After it is fixed the text will say something like "relabel after 6 months". Thanks! Erica2KViews2likes3CommentsRe: Auto-labelling not applying
Hi Kotus-Tech365, There could be a few things going on here. Is the SharePoint site a "modern" site that uses a Microsoft 365 group for access? If yes, when you create the retention label policy, choose "Microsoft 365 Group" as the location, not SharePoint sites. 99% of the time, this is the issue. Did you apply the content type to the specific document you want to label? Your condition may not be formatted correctly. It should be: ContentType:"content type name". It's important to add the quotes if the name has spaces. Please let us know if these resolve the issue. The great news is that we are releasing a feature in February 2023 called simulation mode for retention labels that will help you test these policies in 24hrs rather than one week. Thanks! Erica3.6KViews0likes0CommentsRe: How to change the compliance-description for retention labels (the grey text below the label name)?
Hi tgraham-legalops - this grey description is automatically created from the retention settings of the label. I am not following the setting for the label. A retention label can have one outcome after the retention period is over. Does it delete the item, or does it re-label the item? It cannot be both. If you can please reply here or via direct message with a screenshot of the label like the one below I am happy to help you figure it out. Thanks! Erica1.9KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Retention Policy v Retention labels
Hi chrishorsted720, Thanks for the question. Please look at the Principles of Retention which describes what happens if there are conflicting polices on a single item. Retaining an item will always take precedence over deleting an item, so the seven-year retention policy will take precedence. The easiest way to accomplish this requirement is to use the E5 adaptive policy scopes feature, which enables you to target specific mailboxes based on active directory profile attributes. Using this feature, you could create a scope for the department of staff that need to retain for 3 years, and then use that to exclude them from the 7-year policy and target them for the three-year policy. Please mark as best response if this answered your question. Thanks! Erica2.5KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Changing "retention type" on an existing retention label in MS Purview
Hi K-dub, Thanks for the question! Here is a link to the documentation about modifying existing labels: Create retention labels for exceptions - Microsoft Purview (compliance) | Microsoft Learn "Most settings can't be changed after the label is created and saved, which include: The retention label name and the retention settings except the retention period. However, you can't change the retention period when the retention period is based on when items were labeled." So, you can change the retention period for a label, but nothing else. If you'd like to change the other settings, the best process is to create a new label and use PowerShell to replace it 1:1 with the old label. Please let us know if you have other questions. Thanks!
