Dynamic DL or group based on org hierarchy?
Is there a way to create a dynamic DL or group based on org hierarchy? For example if the Global HR Director wants to communicate to everyone in HR... As of right now because of a recent acquisition, the data we have for users is not too accurate (department, business unit, etc) but people have been "assigned" to the right managers. Any way to do this?. Thanks Cristina15KViews0likes5CommentsChannel Management Tools?
As we all know there are no channel management capabilities in Teams so I am looking into solutions. Has anyone used any of these tools and can tell me some feedback about them? Specially on pricing... I don't want to spend much time researching and contacting people if the pricing range is completely crazy and not worth for us. https://agatsoftware.com/microsoft-teams-channel-management/ https://sharegate.com/products/sharegate-desktop?gclid=Cj0KCQjwpreJBhDvARIsAF1_BU3eKQmxKUB9izAis9HkUSbd9izLb3ZGXPK6sF-ENJvXhX_8HiDgWbcaArksEALw_wcB (this seems to offer a LOT more than channel management and hence the price $4500 user/year!!) Thanks in advance!!1.5KViews0likes1Comment- 1.1KViews1like0Comments
Release Notes Widget?
I recently found this page with updates for the Teams Admin Center. As I was looking through it, I see a post mentioning a "Release Notes Widget" back in May 21, 2021. Does anyone know what this is or where to find?. Lost of the posts in this page really do not give much info or don't indicate where to find that new feature/setting. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/OfficeUpdates/teams-admin?source=docsSolved1.2KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Moving to Teams only using global tenant setting - questions!
Joe McGowan It went well!. We just flip the switch for the org wide setting. I honestly did not trust the migration process as it did not work consistently through our pilot so I chose not to trust that and asked users to re-create their meetings in Teams in our communications before the switch. No major complaints or issues at all. Good luck!!Re: Select my Background option not visible in my MS Teams
Yadwinder1130 So I am not sure if this is going to help anyone in here but I thought it was worth to share as I finally have access to the custom background feature!. I have tried everything posted in this discussion and had given up since nothing worked. Yesterday, we "discovered" that users being in a specific meeting policy was preventing them to see/use the custom background feature. We had created a separate policy with the exact same settings as our org-wide one except the one allowing people to record meetings. This was done way before the background feature was available but not sure if it made a difference. We noticed that if users were assigned that meeting policy then they would not have the custom background feature available and since I have been on that policy for ever I never saw the feature at all in my Teams meetings. I created a new from scratch/fresh policy (not a copy) for the groups that needs meeting recording capability and moved everyone from the "old" policy to the new one and that DID IT! Now I can record meetings as well as use the custom background feature. Again, not expecting that this will be the solution for everyone here but maybe will help someone!16KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Moving to Teams only using global tenant setting - questions!
adam deltinger thanks for your reply!. Doing it before the weekend is a good suggestion for sure. About the migration process, seems that the powershell commands to trigger it work only if you specify users... Did not see an option to just trigger it for everyone at once. I guess we could run the command for a list of all users?... Now, if we actually run a powershell for a list of users to change their MS Teams Upgrade setting to Teams only (instead of flipping the org wide setting) then the migration process should trigger... maybe?Moving to Teams only using global tenant setting - questions!
Hi all, We are planning to move to Teams Only setting soon (currently on Islands mode. Skype and Teams available for everyone. We have a mix of Skype and Teams users). We have decided to switch all users at once based on Pilot feedback. Since the change will be for everyone, we want to just use the org wide tenant setting in the Teams Admin Center to switch everyone at once so I have a couple of questions about this approach: We have approximately 2000 user accounts. How long will it take for the switch to happen approximately?. Anyone have any past experiences? Will the Skype meetings already schedules be migrated automatically by the backend migration process?. I know this happens when switching individual user accounts when that setting checkbox is marked but I don't know if the migration process will also be triggered by changing the org wide setting. Thank you in advance for your feedback!Re: Teams client not updating
rs_oakford Thank you for putting this out there! Our case is exactly the same. We have raised this question/concern to our account team as well and seems that no one has the right answer. All we hear is that features roll out in waves and now we know that users with the same exact version have not the same features (what??!! - first product ever that handle changes like this?) What is the version for then? What are the differences between versions if it's not features?. It has been extremely difficult and frustrating to manage changes on Teams for us. The video backgrounds feature started showing up first week of April for us, then only a couple of users would get it from time to time... It's almost end of July we still have users that do not have that feature available! Completely unacceptable. Users get frustrated and what's worst is that we do not have an accurate answer for them. Would love to hear something different from someone at Microsoft that is not what we have already heard which does not explain anything at all. Thanks Cristina75KViews2likes2CommentsRe: "Migrate this user's meetings to Teams" setting when changing to "Teams Only" mode
adam deltinger After some validation, my "test" users have confirmed that their Skype meetings have not been migrated even though it has been more than a week. I guess a ticket will need to be submitted... Not looking forward to that process full of logs capturing and no much progress... 😞 Maybe we will just go ahead with moving everyone and just asking users to delete their Skype meetings and create new Teams ones. If anyone has any other suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated it! Thanks CristinaRe: "Migrate this user's meetings to Teams" setting when changing to "Teams Only" mode
PhilHemingwaySTV adam deltinger Sorry I have not responded to this. My test user is supposed to get back to me validating if the meetings migrated or not. But like Phil is saying, if they don't, it would be the one issue standing open on my company wide plan. Will post an update as soon as I hear from my test user. Thank you!Re: Select my Background option not visible in my MS Teams
IanEdwards Are you still experiencing this?. We have been fighting this fight as well... Some users have the default backgrounds working (very few) and most don't have anything but the option to blur. We are on 1.3.00.13565 but that apparently does not mean anything for Teams (I don't even know why the bother with a version number if features are not consistent for users even in the same tenant). I looked into those folder mentioned in this discussion but I don't even have the "Backgrounds" folder at all. I found a doc in the Microsoft web site about enabling through PowerShell... we ran the code and still nothing. We opened a ticket with Microsoft to see if they could help with this discrepancy but the help has been terrible. The backgrounds (default) feature has been out for months and we still do not have it. Just wondering if more people are experiencing this. When changing a specific user to "Teams Only" mode from the Teams Admin Center there is that field/setting that says: "Migrate this user's meetings to Teams". What should be the expected result from having this ON?. Will all this user's Skype meetings be migrated to Teams meetings?. I am asking because we are piloting the Teams Only mode with a few users and their Skype meetings are "intact" after the change meaning that meetings did not get migrated or changed to Teams at all so I just want to confirm that I am looking at a realistic expectation or if this setting means something else. What does this setting mean? Thanks Cristina GomesRe: Teams client not updating
ThomasSteibl Check this out: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msteams/forum/all/loss-of-blur-and-background-feature-with-microsoft/62329b94-8e48-45fa-8e66-407eca706ea3?page=2 I was looking for some info also since we had the same (some users with the 1.3.00.8663 version that had the Teams meetings backgrounds feature available and others with the 1.3.00.9267 where suddenly some features disappeared). Looks like there is an "issue" with this version so I would not be surprised if they "stopped" releasing anything until they figure it out.82KViews2likes2CommentsRe: Managing Teams Private Channels
TonyRedmond Great post! There is definitely a lot more to these private channels than people think! Do you know if the private channel SP site gets deleted when a Team owner deletes a site or when it's automatically deleted by expiration policy? We have expiration policy enabled (180 days) for O365 groups which deletes the group's team, SP site, etc automatically when it expires. I wonder if the SP sites associated with the team's private channels also get deleted (I hope so!)?? Thanks in advance for your input! ChrisHoardMVP Thanks for the tip. I looked into it... there is one starting June 30th I believe and I registered for it. Hopefully I can get some ideas in here before so I can discuss with my team next week ;-) Thanks! Cristina2.6KViews1like1Comment
