New Outlook client - view online archive of shared mailbox
Hi there, I have a user who has an Office 365 E3 license and is using the new Outlook client. He has access to a shared mailbox and it is appearing on the client. The shared mailbox has an in-place/online archive but it is not appearing on the client. The archive of the shared mailbox appears on the old Outlook client and on OWA. Is anyone else having the same issue? I checked and found the below: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/new-and-classic-outlook-for-windows-feature-comparison-de453583-1e76-48bf-975a-2e9cd2ee16dd It mentions that shared mailboxes are supported and online archives also, but no mention of the online archive of a shared mailbox. Hi there. We have some users who need to keep all their emails for compliance purposes so they have been put on hold. Unfortunately, their mailboxes are nearly full. So we want to move some emails to the archive to free up space in the primary mailbox but without deleting any email, i.e. have online archiving and litigation hold at the same time. Unfortunately, this is not possible. Hi there. We are in the process of migrating users from an Exchange 2013 server to Office 365. The environment is already in a hybrid setup and we are migrating mailboxes. The issue we are getting is that the migration is going quite slowly... because O365 is using the line that is configured on the Exchange server and its bandwidth is limited. However, if I use the procedure below: -Export a user's mailbox to PST. -Delete the user from Exchange. -Recreate same user as an Office 365 mailbox. -Import the PST using AzCopy. It goes much faster (I can use other lines for that with more bandwidth). The problem is that when I do this, there is a lot of information that is lost when the user is deleted and recreated, e.g. group memberships, delegation access etc. I figure that it would be best if I could do this: -Export a user's mailbox to PST. -Start the migration using the O365 remove move migration (and keep the user's group membership, delegation access etc.) but without migrating emails. -Once migration is complete, I can then import the PST into the empty mailbox using AzCopy. So my query is has anyone tried to do this? I will test this out soon but I am posting this in case someone else has tried it before.1.1KViews0likes1CommentIssue deleting an archive
Hi there. I have a user whose archive is nearly full. I have run the commands from https://newsignature.com/articles/removing-and-creating-new-office-365-online-archive/ to delete it immediately. Here are the commands that were run: $upn = "Email address removed" Disable-Mailbox -identity $upn -Archive Set-Mailbox -identity $upn -RemoveDisabledArchive However, when I run the command below: get-mailboxLocation -user $upn | fl mailboxGuid,mailboxLocationType I get this: MailboxGuid : <removed> MailboxLocationType : DemotedArchive MailboxGuid : <removed> MailboxLocationType : Primary I have used these commands for other mailboxes in the past and it works correctly... once done when I run the get-mailboxLocation command I get only the primary mailbox. And then when I enable archiving for the users, I get an empty archive mailbox. For some reason, the archive for this mailbox is not being deleted and remains in the "DemotedArchive" state. If I re enable archiving, the full archive reappears (not an empty one). Besides, I have searched the web for more info on this "DemotedArchive" state but did not find anything. There is no litigation hold on the mailbox. We had a hybrid setup before and the user was created on the on premise Exchange server. She was then moved to Exchange Online and later on online archiving was enabled. Since then, the on premise part was removed and our setup is now cloud only. Hi there, I have been considering using Azure DNS. I created a test tenant to try it out and configured an unused domain on it (say example.com). It worked fine and I decided to start using it for my production/live domains. I created a new 'production' tenant, a DNS zone on that tenant and added domain example.com I realised that I was not asked to prove ownership of the domain (like you are asked when configuring a domain on O365). So I have 2 tenants with DNS zones with the same domain! However, the name servers on the 2nd tenant were different. So, when I changed it at my domain registrar, I was able to get the records managed on the new tenant. But that got me worried. Anyone can create a tenant on Azure and create a DNS zone for domain example.com Can anyone advise if there is a way to prevent this? Update: When I created the resource group on my production tenant, 1 selected a different region and I was thinking that this may be why the name servers are different. So I deleted everything on my production tenant. I created a new resource group and selected the same region as on the test tenant. When I created a zone for example.com, the name servers were different from those on the test tenant. So it does seem that there is some verification/control being done. Hi there, I have been trying out Enterprise Mobility and Security E3. I have enrolled my device as personally owned with a work profile. It is working properly and the company data is in a container and I cannot share that data with the rest of the device.... However, the issue is that I have lots of contacts(personal contacts) on my O365 account and it seems that these contacts are not shared with the rest of my phone... So now, when one of these contacts calls me, I can only see the number (the name is not displayed) and I do not know who is calling. Has anyone had the same issue and how did you work around it?Solved976Views0likes1Comment
