"UPLOAD BLOCKED We couldn't verify you have the necessary permissions

Copper Contributor

In word or excel I get an error saying "UPLOAD BLOCKED We couldn't verify you have the necessary permissions to upload the file." and "The permissions on this file were updated and you no longer have the rights to view this file. If you previously made changes to this file, they may not be saved."

These are my files that I created in my programs, save in my OneDrive. Why can't I use my files?!

The discussions in this forum are no longer relevant to help with this problem. There is no "office tab" when you click on the OneDrive icon and select settings. The only discussion from 2023 is for a Mac OS. I am using Windows 11.

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with OneDrive for Business. The error message you are encountering suggests a permissions issue, but since you own these files and they are saved in your OneDrive, this is unexpected. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

  1. Check File Permissions:
  • Go to the OneDrive web interface (onedrive.live.com).
  • Navigate to the folder where you are encountering this issue.
  • Right-click on the file in question and select "More actions" or "Manage access."
  • Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to access and edit the file. You should be the owner or have at least "Edit" permissions.
  1. Check Sharing Settings:
    • If you have shared the file with others or have received it from someone else, double-check the sharing settings. Make sure you have the appropriate permissions on the file.
  2. Sync Issues:
    • Sometimes, sync issues can lead to permission errors. Try the following:
  • Pause and then resume the OneDrive sync.
  • Sign out of OneDrive and sign back in.
  • Check if there are any pending updates or uploads in the OneDrive sync queue.
  1. Reinstall OneDrive:
    • If the issue persists, you can try to uninstall and reinstall the OneDrive desktop app on your Windows 11 computer. This can sometimes resolve sync-related problems.
  2. Check for Updates:
    • Ensure that your Windows operating system and Office applications (Word and Excel) are up to date. Outdated software can sometimes cause compatibility issues.
  3. Contact Support:
    • If none of the above steps resolves the issue, it may be necessary to contact Microsoft Support. They can provide more specific assistance and troubleshoot the problem with you.

To contact Microsoft Support, you can visit the Microsoft Support website or use the "Contact Support" option within your OneDrive account. They can provide personalized assistance based on your specific situation and configuration.

Remember to back up your important files before attempting any major changes or reinstallations to ensure you do not lose any data during the troubleshooting process. The text and steps were edited with the help of AI.Formularbeginn

I am having the same problem.  A personal computer only I use with my files.  Fix this!  I should not have to do all this troubleshooting to simply save my file.  I will likely switch to MAC next time.  Outlook is also completely useless now.  I use the e-mail that came with my phone because I don't have any problems with it.  Outlook presents a challenge about fifty percent of the time since it moved to web based.

I have the same issue and have spent hours this morning uninstalling / reinstalling OneDrive, deleting registry keys, removing all the data from my Win10 PC and moving it elsewhere.

I have a MAPS subscription, so technically am using OneDrive for Business, as it used to be called. This issue only started earlier this week. Last week, I was able to access everything perfectly.

I use the same account on my laptop and that can access and edit files just fine. It's just my PC that has suddenly been blocked. The suggested steps don't fix anything.
