OneDrive for Business
2020 TopicsOneDrive Processing long time
Hello, I’m having an issue with OneDrive. It has been stuck on "Processing changes" for a very long time — it says it's processing 1,000,000 changes. I left my PC running for 24 hours to let it finish, but it’s still not done. What’s confusing is that some folders show the sync icon (as if they are still syncing), even though all the files inside are already marked with green checkmarks (fully synced). When I tried clicking "Pause syncing for 2 hours", the OneDrive app froze completely. Here’s what I’ve tried so far: I looked up solutions for OneDrive stuck on Processing changes, but nothing worked. I tried resetting OneDrive — but when the app reopens, it just freezes again. Interestingly, my other PC using the same OneDrive account is working perfectly fine — it doesn't show any "Processing changes" message at all. I’ve also stopped editing or saving any new files to OneDrive just in case. Could you please help me figure out what’s going wrong?49Views0likes1CommentDefault Versioning Settings - Number of Versions to retain
It appears that the default versioning settings for OneDrive are for 500 major versions. Is there a way to reduce this default globally? It doesn't appear so via the GUI but was wondering if perhaps there was a way to set this via powershell?38KViews0likes11CommentsWhat does the archive experience for OneDrive look like after the change to unlicensed accounts?
Based on this change, OneDrive accounts will be set to archive: Unlicensed OneDrive accounts subject to a retention policy, retention period, or legal hold will be automatically archived after 93 days of license removal. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/unlicensed-onedrive-accounts#enforcement-of-policy-changes-for-unlicensed-onedrive-accounts To test the experience, we attempted to run the PowerShell script used to archive a SharePoint site to a OneDrive site: Set-SPOSiteArchiveState https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/sharepoint-online/set-spositearchivestate?view=sharepoint-ps However, it does not appear that a OneDrive site type is supported with this script. Does anyone know what "archived" actually means in the context of a OneDrive account? Also, what will the experience be both from a user perspective and from an admin perspective? In SharePoint, there's a message indicating the site is in an archived state and admins can see a list of all archived sites via the admin center. I think a lot of confusion would be avoided if OneDrive "sites" appeared in a list like SharePoint sites do within the SharePoint admin center. Thank you!39Views1like2CommentsWindows One Drive shared folder suddenly become shortcut instead of folders
Hi, I am having an issue that I need help with. I have my One Drive account for several years. I have my main account signed in on my laptop. I have 4 other users sharing their folder with edit access to my main account. I add them as short cut to my main account. In the past, on my laptop, they function as folders. Meaning, I can move, delete, add files and they essentially function as a folder. Now, all my shared folder from my other users suddenly becomes short cut. When I open the folder, it brings me to the browser for me to sign in and view them. This never happened before and I am not sure what caused it. Please help. Edit Update: I am able to fix this by logging into One Drive with my other user account. Seems like not all accounts are affected only some. I know its not a fixed but at least a temporary solution. The problem seems to be on Microsoft side and I hope they fixed it soon or else I will be going to Google Drive. Update 2: This issue was ongoing since June 7, 2024. As of today, June 19, 2024 it still has not been fixed. Also, one of the Always on device folder on my laptop start deleting stuff on its own. I had to disble the always on device to get it to stop. Great job Microsoft, the most valueable company in the world. I think I will be moving to Google Drive.18KViews24likes62CommentsNot seeing any folders or files in iOS app, only 'Libraries'
Help! My company is piloting Office 365 (minus exchange for now). We had commercial license but just switched to GCC (Govt) account and migrated our domain a couple of days ago. Now, when users log back into OneDrive for Business on their iPhone or iPad, none of their files are displayed. Actually the only section displayed at all is 'Libraries' with no option to switch to files view. However OneDrive works fine for the same users on the web or on the desktop app, all files are there and they can interact with them as normal. What am I missing? Is there some global setting that is preventing the file functionality from working on mobile devices?Solved18KViews1like11CommentsUnlicensed OneDrive User Accounts - MS licensing changes?
I recently reviewed this article on changes to unlicensed OneDrives (departed users): Manage unlicensed OneDrive user accounts We currently have the user's OneDrive retention for deleted users set to 730 days. This allows for plenty of time to restore/recover/review data on a departed user's OneDrive. Looking at the Microsoft article, this now means that we would be charged for data retention over 93 days, since the OneDrive will be archived. We don't have Microsoft 365 Archive enabled, but if seems if we want to retain deleted OneDrives past 93 days, we need to do this. Has anyone done this? I don't want this to become prohibitively expensive for us. I assume that if we don't subscribe to MS Archive, the retention period is ignored and the OneDrives are deleted anyway?
