How to migrate OneDrive for Business content from one Tenat to another

Hello,

I have a demand to migrate OneDrive content from one tenant to another.

Accounts, mailboxes and their contents have no problems.

But OneDrive is keeping me awake at night.

Before, SMT could do something similar to Sharepoint pages. While evolution is in fact involution, why it lost that capability over OneDrive was never made clear.

With existing Documentation (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/enterprise/cross-tenant-onedrive-migration?view=o365...) I had issues regarding a command - Set-SPOCrossTenantRelationship .

Is there any "soft" way to perform this operation?

there is a "soft" way to perform OneDrive content migration from one tenant to another by using SMT. Although SMT does not have direct support for migrating OneDrive content, you can try to utilize it to migrate files from OneDrive by mapping them to SharePoint document libraries in the target tenant.

Here are the steps:

1. Install and configure the SharePoint Migration Tool (SMT) on your computer.

2. Set up a SharePoint document library in the target tenant where you want to migrate the OneDrive content.

3. Use SMT to create a new migration project and set the source as the user's OneDrive in the source tenant and the target as the SharePoint document library in the target tenant:

• Open the SharePoint Migration Tool and click on "Create a new migration project."
• Select "File share" as the source type.
• Provide the path to the user's OneDrive folder in the source tenant.
• For the target type, choose "SharePoint Online."
• Specify the source and target credentials to authenticate the migration.
• Set up the migration options, such as whether to overwrite existing files or preserve timestamps.
• Enable any additional options or filters as per your requirements.

4. Map the folders/files from the OneDrive source to the corresponding locations in the SharePoint document library.

• Review the source folders and files listed in SMT.
• Map each source folder or file to the corresponding location in the target SharePoint document library.
• Ensure that the mapping accurately reflects the desired destination for each item.
  
  

5. Start the migration process using SMT to transfer the files from OneDrive to the target document library.

I don't know if I understood correctly. So forgive me for the following questions:

I, even the Global Administrator in both Tenants, cannot do this directly.

"Type": Copy from
"https://TENANT01-my.sharepoint.com/personal/USER_A/"
For
"https://TENANT021-my.sharepoint.com/personal/USER_A/"

If this is confirmed, it is somewhat frustrating for MS not to delve into this topic.

According to what I understood initially is that basically:
- Somehow, map the contents of OneDrive to a computer and from this computer, send it to some site on Sharepoint, using SMT

I went back to SMT, opened it and I have very few options. It basically just gives me options to perform from a File Server to Sharepoint Online.

I apologize if I didn't understand correctly, but if it's this understanding above, I didn't find out how to do it. Abusing goodwill, would you be able to exemplify me?

You are correct that the SharePoint Migration Tool (SMT) does not have direct support for migrating OneDrive content from one tenant to another.

To migrate OneDrive content from one tenant to another, you may need to consider third-party migration tools or services that offer support for cross-tenant migrations. These tools often provide features such as mapping user accounts, preserving permissions, and transferring files with metadata intact.

Some popular third-party migration tools that support cross-tenant OneDrive migrations are Sharegate, AvePoint, and BitTitan MigrationWiz.
