Simultaneous speakers in teams call blocking each other

Copper Contributor

Hello All,

I have been seeing the issue where people talk over or interrupt each other. This is happening more often than with in person meetings where we can see each other and there is no lag. From what I have seen whoever talks first gets the floor and other speakers are blocked. This has led to people feeling ignored or interrupted.

I know this is partially a education issue, but is there or could there be a tool to actively indicate who has the audio and make it obvious to the other speakers when their voice is being blocked? I have run into the case where I thought I was being heard, but I must not have been.

For example person A is speaking and pauses briefly and starts to speak again, but person B starts during the pause and blocks person A's audio as he finishes. If Teams showed that Person A was blocked then person B would know they interrupted them and person A would realize the second half was not heard.

Any recommendations? solutions?

They are using half duplex devices. If they use headsets they shouldn't have the problem.

Really? so we should hear multiple people at the same time? I am going to try that.
