General chats not showing in recent
There is consensus among our hundreds of staff that teams is a real pain compared to slack, or others, and I've been trying to figure out why. I think I've got it.
The biggest single reason is that the "general" for your team is relatively hard to get to, and the zillions of meeting-generated chat channels take over. People generally hit "recent chats" and go to whatever one for the group they can see, and post there. It's almost never related to what the chat itself was about.
There is a wider problem here with chat-overload given meeting chats are not time limited and pretty much just sit there forever, but that's another issue.
If messages in "general" for my team showed up as recent chats, that would band aid the problem. There is no setting for this.
Right now they don't, and so I'm having to run staff training sessions, and I shouldn't have to, because it shouldn't be this hard to use. People are begging to return to slack, even a year later.
