I'm rather underwhelmed by the announcement.

In looking at it on the surface why not just add chatting to Groups? Having so many different places to conduct work isn't necessarily good.

The other, is since my tenant is down on the list to get new features, I figure I won't be seeing this feature for another year or more.

I know what you mean, I am undecided, I think I'll end up liking it, though.  I won't know until I can try it out, which won't happen before it can be enabled selectively or spin up a test tenant maybe.

The Microsoft Teams Space is very active at the moment, also I have put these resources together incidentally.

I like what I'm seeing but I agree - there are too many different ways of doing the same sorts of things, not all of which are inter-related. I don't have that much trouble as checking out new stuff is what I do, but my poor users are extremely overwhelmed.

Is there an overview of the different ways for folks to collaborate in Office 365 from a use case POV? I mean, there's traditional SharePoint sites, newer Team Sites, New Sites, OneDrive for Business, Office 365 Groups, Teams and of course shared access collaboration withing many Office programs - Word, Excel, OneNote and so forth.

From a provider POV all of the options make sense, but for users and their poor afflicted IT teams it's getting impossible to keep up with.

So, repeating my question - is there some sort of use case centered overview of all these different approaches?
  • It looks like i'm in the country #182 - no Microsoft Teams under the Settings->Apps menu (still have Apps; Service & add-ins available by direct URL, but that's exactly the same)

I didn't have it yesterday either but, it has since appeared.  As jcgonzalezmartin mentioned, logging out and going back into the Office 365 admin portal may help.

Yes, it appeared in few hours after the announcement - simultaneously with new message about Teams in Message center,
  • If you dig a little deeper into teams you will find some great simple ideas. It is not something that is just handling one task. Nice to see most things in one place. for years we have had multiple apps to switch between tasks. It is extensible too. I'm sure there are plenty of gaps, but it is a great start.
