Event details
We are very excited to announce a Microsoft Teams ‘Ask Microsoft Anything’ (AMA) specific to the new Microsoft Teams, now generally available!
The AMA will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. PT in the comment section below.
An AMA is a live online event similar to an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This AMA gives you the opportunity to connect with members of the product engineering team who will be on hand to answer your questions and listen to feedback.

When will the full Collaborative Calling functionality be available? When asking MS support about the missing call history in Teams channels they stated:
Shared call history for agents in Voice Enabled Channels is not yet implemented.
You'll see your individual agent call queue history and previews of your call queue's shared transcribed voicemail.
Call queue calls are not logged. There is no call history even when the call has been answered by a member of the call queue. (Call history in channel will only show calls answered by the Teams user/agent's own call history)This blog post from 3 years ago shows screen grabs from Ignite 2020 showing call history, call back options, etc... https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams-blog/what-s-new-in-microsoft-teams-microsoft-ignite-2020/ba-p/1665600#calling
- rpistorCopper ContributorWill Collaborative Calling be in New Teams as demo'd at the 2020 Ignite conference?
- EricLCopper ContributorIt appears some traffic from the teams client is not following proxy as we would expect and is getting blocked at our firewall. Is there any updates coming to how proxy are handled? Also, in the meantime what is the url used for the automatic updates as this is a big blocker for us before we could roll this out. Is it part of the known 365 url endpoints, or something different?
- AlexC84Brass ContributorQuite a few people, approximately thirty eight thousand (https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/feedback/idea/0651d149-eb27-ed11-9db1-000d3a4d92e4), would like to be able to move/migrate a channel from one team to another - that includes everything that falls under the channel, not just the files. This was originally requested back in ~2016 on the old UserVoice feedback portal (https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams/move-teams-channels/m-p/2212551) and whilst the MS Team has expressed great enthusiasm for it, it's always been put off for another day. Is there a genuine intention to get this done at any point in the near future or is the underlying architecture standing in the way of this? i.e. why has nothing progressed on this front since 2016?

We face several issues, which are not listed in the documentation of Microsoft
- Shifts App: Some shifts are duplicated
- Groups can not be tagged in private Channels
- When installing the newest version, there is no toggle to revert to the classic version. Which is unfortunate, because some features are really not working (see above)
- how can it be, that we have up to 5 different version within 1 company with 1 policy? Some have no toggle at all and cannot even try the new version, some have the toggle, for some the toggle has already moved to the settings area, some have an error message when changing to the new version that the Policy does not allow switching, some cannot switch at all.

ElenaAsanin If you click the three ellipsis, is the "New Teams" toggle switch not showing? What is the update policy for the organization set to in the Teams Admin Center?
- ElenaAsaninBrass Contributor
Hi Todd_Depczynski , no, there is no toggle in the ellipses menu, I checked that, because I have other users that do have that specific toggle there. In the meanwhile I suppose that the old version was not available anymore, because someone deinstalled that version because of another issue and than installed the newest version. And I suppose (but that is really just speculation), that the newest version does not have that option to revert back, when there is no old version anymore.
Unfortunately, I have no access to our Teams Admin Center so I can not verify the second point. Will check with my colleagues. Thank you for your support.
- owaisashrafiCopper ContributorWe are having problem with the New Teams in searching for the people from the search bar within this Teams New. We are not able to search for the people (with whom there was no conversation before).
- lmoore101Brass ContributorWhat happens in November if we are suppressing the new Teams toggle? Will it still appear for all our users? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/new-teams-desktop-admin#when-will-all-users-see-the-try-the-new-teams-toggle
- Amitabh_SrivastavaFormer EmployeeIt if referenced in https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/new-teams-desktop-admin#when-will-all-users-see-the-try-the-new-teams-toggle These schedules only apply if your organization has set the Teams Update policy "Use new Teams Client" to either: -Microsoft controlled (the value in the Teams Admin Center) or -Microsoft choice (if you are using PowerShell)
- superray72Brass ContributorGood question. The toggle should only appear if someone is Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel (Preview) channel? If not then everyone will see it in November?
- Hughes818Iron ContributorYes...we are in Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel...and I think the toggle will stay there until January 2024...I think.
- NoraaJunkerBrass ContributorWhen will support come for personal accounts that are guests in other tenants? This is currently holding me from using the new Teams. I understand that support for personal teams comes later, but I don't understand why it's not possible to join Tenants where I'm a guest.

Q1: We are having issues in our environment with the New Teams. We have the global update policy set in the Teams Admin Center to "Microsoft Controlled", this should allow users to self-install or opt into the New Teams. When users do this, they are prompted with "Your Admin Has Not Enabled Access". If I create a secondary group with New Teams as Default, they are granted access.
Q2: How can we allow the New Teams option organization-wide without "Forcing" it?
- Chris_P2045Copper ContributorI had to do the same workaround as you did.
- owaisashrafiCopper ContributorThe New Teams when set us as Default from Teams Admin Centre, it is still allowing users to go back to the classic teams with the toggle button.
- m36fiveIron Contributor
This is expected behavior. See the chart on this Microsoft Learn page. "**New Teams as default
Rollout for the feature began in early August, 2023: Use this value to make new Teams as the default version. Users can switch back to classic Teams using the toggle."
- owaisashrafiCopper Contributor"Notify when Available" option is no more in Teams New. Is it a issue, or this feature was not added to New Teams?
- m36fiveIron Contributor
It looks like this feature has been removed in the transition to New Teams. I really like this feature and will miss having it. See this Microsoft Learn article, for all features that are changing. "Classic Teams: Allow users to follow another user's presence, then notify them of availability. New Teams: Select a user’s avatar or profile photo anywhere in new Teams to quickly get an overview of their online status, next available calendar slot in Outlook, work hours, local time, or work location (remote or office)."
