Microsoft Teams Phone AMA
Event details
We are very excited to announce a Microsoft Teams ‘Ask Microsoft Anything’ (AMA) specific to Teams Phone!
The AMA will take place on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. PT in the comment section below.
An AMA is a live online event similar to a “YamJam” on Yammer or an “Ask Me Anything” on Reddit. This AMA gives you the opportunity to connect with members of the product engineering team who will be on hand to answer your questions and listen to feedback.

- LakGautamCopper ContributorWhy does calling does not route using the local voice routing set in operator connect when there are other sites using direct routing in the same tenant?

Hi LakGautam - can you provide more clarity upon what you mean by local voice routing set?- LakGautamCopper ContributorWell I am setting up Operator Connect in my test account where I have also Direct Routing employed too at a different location. After setting up, when test user is calling, the caller id shows the earlier Direct Routing setup. I have a seperate Dial Plan as well as Voice Routing policy setup for Direct Routing and the test user is not using them.
- With Operator Connect, there is typically no voice routes defined so all calls will automatically route to the OC provider, except when there is an exact match on a voice route. If so, then that voice route should be used assuming its configured for a Direct Routing voice route.
- LakGautamCopper ContributorWill you be able to please elaborate this? Thanks.

When can we expect pronoun functionality to be added in to Teams (and Office 365 at large)?
- oh_robotCopper ContributorI would very much like an answer to this as well. There are several requests for this over the past year and a half that have been upvoted and received little to no response from Microsoft.

Thanks. This is a known ask and we hope to see it on the Teams Public Roadmap soon. You can find the Teams Public Roadmap here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap
- oh_robotCopper Contributor"Hope to see it soon" has been the answer from Microsoft for over a year and a half. This isn't an acceptable answer considering the needs of your diverse set of users and the fact that most of your competitor apps have had this feature for quite a while.

Since our users are using the Teams app, I don't want them to install WebEx teams app. I would like a seamless calling experience for WebEx and Teams. When IT rolled out the WebEx soft phone application, I had them hide all the other features such as meetings, chat, groups. This is what the WebEx app looks like for our users. Would like to have users only need to open one application--Teams and the WebEx calling is ready. Now they do calling in WebEx and everything else in Teams--chat, meetings, Teams, file management.

Hi Susan, Can you provide more details here - we're not entirely sure what you need in this case? Are you asking to be able to hide the Teams calling app from the left rail? Or is it you'd like to be able to use the Teams calling app for WebEx calling? You should be able to hide the calls app the same way chat and channels are hidden. Unfortunately, our calling app isn't open for third parties to use in place of their calling experience so in the case of using WebEx for calling it would be necessary to use their app. Thanks Sean- SusanMcClementsIron ContributorYou answered my question. No I don't want to hide Teams calling. I was wondering if we could configure the calling to be WebEx calling. Our users will have to have the WebEx calling app plus the Teams app. Thanks

Can you go through all of these items:
And give some deeper information, when those will be fixed, and how we could identify if users are facing these issues?
- Therese_SolimenoModeratorThank you for the question - we will need to take these to the larger engineering team and get back to you with a response.
- Petri-XBronze Contributor
Do you have any estimate when Call Queue services start support the local media optimization as well?
- Therese_SolimenoModeratorThank you for the question - we will need to take these to the larger engineering team and get back to you with a response.

Teams Phones and local media optimization, is that scenario supported?
- Therese_SolimenoModeratorThank you for the question - we will need to take these to the larger engineering team and get back to you with a response.
- debasispaulCopper ContributorVery excited to participate!
- Therese_SolimenoModeratorGlad to hear it. Do you have a question for the Teams Phones engineering team?
