How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
- The November 2023 update added “never combined” mode on the taskbar for Windows 11. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors. Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. It also added a separate setting for turning this feature on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors.

Why is microsoft doing this?
1) You are trying to become apple? I would rather go to apple then cuz you're doing a bad job and you're like 10 years too late to do so.
2) You are trying to be minimalistic? Am i using money to buy a product from you that i dont like? Is this product for me or is it for you?
3) It was a choice in win10, and not it is not. What is with this regression?
4)Is it because you're creating some job for some moron that doesnt deserve to be there? or does he/she think its the new trend for the new gen which most of them havnt even reach a level that makes a difference in your company shares because ill be taking my money over to apple since your foresight is hindered due to a one track mind.- Rich5555Iron ContributorI think these comments are best addressed to Microsoft rather than to the members of this tech support forum who came looking for the way to activate this pretty essential personalisation option, only to find that Windows11 has omitted it.
- CassRTIron ContributorI am happy to voice my complaint to Microsoft, but I don't know how to contact them. Do you have an email for such a complaint? I hoped that some of the Microsoft OS designers might read these comments and forward the information to their boss.
- mpta3dCopper Contributoryes! please fix that 🙂
- abhijitajmeraCopper ContributorI agree. This is really stupid. Quite immature feature planning of the whole task bar. A deal breaker for me. Switched to Mac after continuous feature degradation on Windows platform.

Bring this feature back!! I can't stand having to wait for the hover and then miss click the wrong window twice in a row... Productivity is way down because you decided to remove a feature that's been in windows as long as I can remember. We use Microsoft Windows because of productivity, not a fancy user interface. This is why I hate MACs.

Bring it back
Don't take it away from me
Because you don't know
What it means to me- AlanBoisvertBrass ContributorThe groveling out here makes me sick. Stop pleading to the MicroShitPig and find a solution for yourself. They know exactly what they did and they are well aware of it's effect. They have the right to change anything they wish. They are NOT going to change this so move yourself forward and be happy.

AlanBoisvert If it makes you sick, for your own health you should just unsubscribe from notifications. What did you expect to receive when you enabled notifications for a post that's about people wanting the feature back?
If nobody complained about the missing feature, Microsoft would have no idea how many people want it back, then there would definitely be no chance of it coming back. If enough people voice their opinions at least there would be a possibility of MS taking notice like how they did with the drag-and-drop-onto-taskbar feature.
- jorgeferreira197Copper ContributorPernille-Eskebo: Did you ever did a usability test before removing this option? This is one of those cases were the decison was made by looking at the easthetics, instead of looking at what users need. Design should follow function, not the other way arround!
Please bring the option back. The current user experience is terrible. - FideMCopper Contributor
As of today, "Never Combine taskbar buttons" feature still not available on Windows 11!
Pernille-Eskebo: When do we get the update which provides this option? - StevenO59Iron ContributorNot only is it cumbersome to find windows with this change, but I'm constantly missing reminders because when a reminder window pops up is buried under one Outlook icon that doesn't turn pink like the reminder window does. Outlook reminders are pretty worthless to me now, since I only get notified when I'm sitting at my desk AND my speaker are on (rare). In the past, the pop-up window would be clearly obvious as a pink icon in the row of windows - so I'd click on it to see what reminder came up.
I am NOT interested in 3rd party solutions or workarounds - this is a feature that was native in Win 10 that Microsoft removed from Win 11. It might not be considered a "bug" if this is what they intended, but it is a serious issue when they remove a feature people want and rely on. You would hope that they listen to such feedback, but after a year, I have serious doubts if this forum is intended for any purpose other than to make people think Microsoft cares or listens. Obviously, they do not either care or listen to this forum... I have also upvoted this issue on the site recommended by others as a place to get Microsoft's attention - but clearly, that forum doesn't matter to Microsoft either - just another feel-good site to make it look like Microsoft cares... - PhorsakenCopper ContributorThis needs to happen. Makes working with multiple instances of a program a nightmare. As a programmer I have multiple windows to Visual Code open all the time. Need to be able to switch between them quicker.
