How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
- Jul 30, 2024The November 2023 update added “never combined” mode on the taskbar for Windows 11. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors. Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. It also added a separate setting for turning this feature on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors.

Not only is it cumbersome to find windows with this change, but I'm constantly missing reminders because when a reminder window pops up is buried under one Outlook icon that doesn't turn pink like the reminder window does. Outlook reminders are pretty worthless to me now, since I only get notified when I'm sitting at my desk AND my speaker are on (rare). In the past, the pop-up window would be clearly obvious as a pink icon in the row of windows - so I'd click on it to see what reminder came up.
I am NOT interested in 3rd party solutions or workarounds - this is a feature that was native in Win 10 that Microsoft removed from Win 11. It might not be considered a "bug" if this is what they intended, but it is a serious issue when they remove a feature people want and rely on. You would hope that they listen to such feedback, but after a year, I have serious doubts if this forum is intended for any purpose other than to make people think Microsoft cares or listens. Obviously, they do not either care or listen to this forum... I have also upvoted this issue on the site recommended by others as a place to get Microsoft's attention - but clearly, that forum doesn't matter to Microsoft either - just another feel-good site to make it look like Microsoft cares...
