Any Free HEIC to PDF Converter Available on Windows 11/10 PC?
Hi everyone,
I’ve recently transferred a bunch of photos from my iPhone to my Windows PC, and I realized that most of them are in HEIC format. For a project I’m working on, I need to convert these HEIC images into PDF format, but I’m not sure of the best way to do this on a Windows PC.
Does Windows 11 or Windows 10 come with a built-in app or utility for converting HEIC images to PDF? If not, what is the best HEIC to PDF Converter for Windows PC? I tried a few online HEIC converters, but the image quality is greatly reduced. If anyone has experience with this or can recommend good one, I’d really appreciate your advice!
Regards,
Robert
- EllieioCopper ContributorYou can save the images as JPEG on iPhone and transfer them to Windows PC. By doing this way, open the Photos app and save them to PDF. You don't need any HEIC to PDF converter anymore. However, there is no bulk conversion option available in Windows 11 or Windows 10 and no advanced settings. Please be noted!

Ellieio HEIC is a widely used image format by iPhone and digital cameras. Unfortunately, Windows OS does not have native support for .heic extension, even the latest Windows 11. This means there is no built-in free HEIC to PDF converter available on Windows. However, you can keep the newly taken photos on iPhone as JPEG.
To keep images as JPEG on an iPhone, you can change the camera settings to capture photos in JPEG format instead of HEIC (High Efficiency). Here's how:
- Go to the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap on "Camera."
- Tap on "Formats."
- Select "Most Compatible": Choose "Most Compatible" instead of "High Efficiency." This setting ensures that photos are saved as JPEG files instead of HEIC.
By selecting "Most Compatible," your iPhone will save photos in JPEG format, which is widely supported across various devices and platforms.

Some free HEIC to PDF converter software may claim to handle HEIC files but actually don't. Make sure you use well-reviewed tools like the Microsoft Photos app or PowerSheII. You don't wanna waste time on a tool that fails halfway through. Here is how to the Microsoft Photos App:
- Open the HEIC file with the Microsoft Photos app (it should support HEIC natively).
- Click on the three dots (…) in the top right and select 'Print'.
- Choose 'Microsoft Print to PDF' as your printer, adjust your settings, and hit print. This will save it as a PDF.
For those who use Windows, ensure your system and any software tools are up to date. Older versions might not support newer file types adequately. - SebastiansadCopper ContributorWhat is the best and free HEIC to PDF converter for Windows PC? In my experience, using the Microsoft Photos app is one of the most straightforward methods, especially since it's already part of your Windows setup. But if you're looking for speed, the Adobe Acrobat is hard to beat! If you have a subscription or access to Adobe Acrobat, you can easily convert HEIC to PDF. Open the HEIC file in Acrobat using the "Create PDF" feature, and it's straightforward from there.

Robertoen Download and install HEIC Image Extension from Microsoft Store. It is an app developed and maintained by Microsoft.
The main function of the HEIF Image Extension is to enable Windows devices to open and view images saved in the HEIF & HEIC file format. HEIF is a modern image format that offers better compression and image quality compared to older formats like JPEG. This extension allows you to view HEIF images, including those with the HEIC variant used by iPhones and some other devices, directly within the Windows Photos app and other compatible applications on your computer. After that, the Photos app can be used as a free HEIC to PDF converter on Windows 11 or Windows 10 when the HEIC images are opened in the app.
- EonthanCopper ContributorIf you're not too picky about using a local app. Why not try something eles? Online converters like Converti0 or HEIC to PDF converter can do the trick as well. Just upload your HEIC file, choose PDF as the output format, and download your converted file. Just keep in mind that you might want to be cautious with privacy when uploading files online!

Robertoen According to my past experience with PDF conversion software, my suggestion is that don't use the online HEIC to PDF converter! Uploading your images to an online converter could expose your personal or sensitive photos to potential data breaches or unauthorized access. There's no guarantee how securely the data is handled, stored, or if it's deleted after conversion.
In most cases, online HEIC to PDF converters will compress or degrade the quality of uploaded images during the conversion process, and result in lower-quality PDF files. What is more, many online converters impose file size limits, which can be restrictive if you're dealing with large HEIC files or multiple images.
- HenronyCopper ContributorCaution is required before using online HEIC to PDF converter software, many online converters have restrictions on file sizes or the number of files you can convert at once. If you need to convert a lot of images, you might find yourself stuck or needing to convert them in multiple batches, which can be time-consuming.
Online tools may lack advanced features that desktop software offers. If you need more control over the conversion process, desktop programs are often the way to go. - AbigailRobertsCopper Contributor

- In the print dialog box, select "Microsoft Print to PDF" as the "Printer".
- Determine the print settings, select the output PDF file location and file name, and then click "Print". This will save the HEIC image in PDF format.

Using the Paint app to handle image conversions is actually quite convenient, especially if you don't have a dedicated HEIC to PDF converter. Although Paint is a simple tool, it is enough to handle some basic image editing and format conversion needs. Here are the detailed steps on how to convert HEIC files to PDF using Paint:
Open the Paint app:
- On Windows, you can find and launch this app by searching for "Paint".
- First, you may need to convert the HEIC file to JPEG format, as Windows' Paint app does not support HEIC format by default. This can be done with an online HEIC to JPEG converter, or use any other software that supports HEIC conversion.
- In Paint, click the "File" menu in the upper-left corner, select "Open", and then browse to and select your converted JPEG file.
- If further editing is required, after adjusting the image, click "File", select "Save As", and then select "JPEG Picture" to save the file.
- Open the converted JPEG file and use the "Print" option again through the "File" menu, selecting "Microsoft Print to PDF" in the "Printer".
- In the Print dialog box, make sure the settings are correct (such as paper orientation and size), then click "Print". Choose where you want to save the PDF, enter a file name, and click Save.
This method does not require a dedicated HEIC to PDF Converter software, and can be completed using Windows' built-in tools. Although it involves preliminary format conversion, the entire process is still simple and straightforward, suitable for less complex use needs. I hope these steps are helpful to you!
