I wouldn’t be so sure that MSFT is playing games, for example they don’t profit from requiring TPM 2.0 modules being a requirement. But it is true that eliminating certain CPU’s that have high crash stats will save W11 receiving lower stability scores.

ok fine BUT, I can't name or find even ONE person with an i7-7700k CPU that's upgraded ANYWAY had even a hiccup let alone a crash.
- SugarD-xApr 24, 2022Brass ContributorMy reply was directed at the guy trying to troll you, not you. I agree 100% that Microsoft's decision was baseless.
- Chris1231Apr 24, 2022Copper ContributorI'm not trolling - when I first posted I wasn't sure if a manual upgrade would work and knew of no one that tried. After reading here, I tried it on all my machines and many of my clients and so far it's worked out well. I just wish the people here would STOP defending the insanely stupid call Microsoft made that the i7-700k wouldn't be supported. it's working fine on the many hundreds of PC's I know that have manually upgraded.
