It would require a motherboard swap out as well. The ASUS z270-I can’t take anything more powerful than the core i7-7700k. If it was as simple as replacing CPU’s in our pcs we would do it.

That mother board can run coffee lake, it’s a point less upgrade but you might be able to get the chip new for under 100$ hopefully… since it’s old …
