KB5124008 Known issues in this update ?
My question:
After the recent KB5124010 update, File History can locate and run the backup drive, and all new files are copied. However, the last backup date for the files does not update. Under 'File Properties' -> 'Previous Versions', it either displays 'There are no previous versions available' or fails to list the recent backup timestamps. Furthermore, some unmodified archive files are being backed up indefinitely. I strongly suspect that the KB5101684 update caused this issue. If Microsoft's Quality Assurance department understands what this implies, it would reveal yet another major oversight.
KB5124008 is mentioned on the Microsoft support page.
Resolution
This issue is resolved in Windows updates released on and after September 22, 2026 such as KB5124010. We recommend you install the latest Windows update for your device as it contains important improvements and issue resolutions, including this one.
I want to ask what after means. Can anyone tell me?
Additionally, the Last Backup timestamp might not update, and previously backed up files might show No previous version available ?

“On and after September 22” means KB5124010 and every later cumulative Windows update containing the same fix. You do not need to install intervening updates separately. The symptoms you describe—an unchanged Last Backup time and missing Previous Versions—are specifically listed in Microsoft’s known issue for KB5124008, so they are not normal File History behavior.
First, open Settings > Windows Update > Update history and confirm KB5124010 or a later cumulative update installed, then restart. Run File History and test with a new file in a protected library. Check the File History page and that file’s Previous Versions tab.
If symptoms remain on a later build, do not reformat the backup drive. Record the exact OS build, export Application log events for FileHistory.exe or KERNELBASE.dll, and submit them through Feedback Hub or Microsoft support. That would indicate the documented fix has not resolved your device.- sheratonIron Contributor
I've already asked a question, which you can see here: https://aka.ms/AA13mnfk.
I don't see it in the Event Viewer.
