How to enable 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. Windows 11 ?
Hi @all
I did not find this function 'Never Combine taskbar buttons'. How can this function be found and enabled in windows 11?
I can't work with multi-tab on windows 11.
Thank you!

I think one of the major contributors to this remarkably unwise and ignorant decision by Microsoft is the prevalence of amateurs on platforms like YouTube and other media sharing platforms. You very rarely come across actual professionals demonstrating techniques and procedures on them, they're mostly just keen amateurs who, while supplying good information for the most part, are not concerned with productivity and probably mostly unaware of productivity features. As a result, Microsoft sees thousands of "so-called" user videos, all of which are combining their taskbar items leading them to conclude that the feature is rarely used. The same goes for things like not hiding known file extensions. I can count on one hand the number of "quasi-expert" videos I've watched where the creator has not got known file extensions hidden. One of the very first things a true power user will do is to turn that nonsense off.
To Pernille-Eskebo I would say this (not that they will ever see this). You made a mistake. This was a poor and ill-considered decision based on faulty feedback data. Swallow your pride, bury your ego for a minute and reflect on the facts without bias and it will become blatantly clear. Don't try to come up with excuses, justifications and rationale behind this, don't defend a bad idea. Restore the feature, admit to your faults, learn and move on.
- MrAntonioOCopper ContributorIt's good to try to come up with new ideas and improvements, but it turns to bad when you negate the possibility of choosing.
I can't imagine the chaos when corporations start rolling upgrades to w11, I'm pushing our IT department to delay the transition until it get fixed.
- MrAntonioOCopper ContributorIt baffles me how something so, so so simple, does not get fixed on the next build after it gets raised. What, we need to tinker now with registry **bleep** or 3rd party dlls to be able to choose how we preffer to interact with something that basic ¿?

PLEASE bring "never combine taskbar buttons" back! If I wanted a macOS I would buy an Apple computer...
- cwhartiiiCopper ContributorPlease bring this back. It makes Windows 11 not nearly as productive. Seems like this would take 5 minutes to fix???

It's amazing to see how negatively a software update decision can influence productivity of millions. I just couldn't get used to that specific function of "never combine". After applying the ExplorerPatcher here, everything looks great!

- henrik32259Brass ContributorIt looks like the latest insider beta build 22581 breaks the solution provided earlier in this thread. The taskbar still works and prevents the combining of buttons. What breaks is File Explorer. It will crash and restart anytime you open it. Removing the fix gets you back to previous crappy Windows 11 task bar and working Explorer.

I also want to complain about the removal of the Never combine task buttons function. Please bring this back. I have no overview of what I am working on and I need to multi-task at my job so I always have more than 2 e-mails open at the same time. Also dragging files around isn't easier because I first have to open the right two tabs before I can drag, but before with all the task buttons ready in my taskbar I could just drag the files to any other tab I wanted to. I don't see any benefit of removing this function. Please bring it back!

Just install "Startallback" trial or you can purchase for 1 PC $4.99 or $8.99 for 2 PC's which includes all future updates. Has a lot of customizable stuff going on.

Jobs a good one. You'll wait forever on Microsoft to sort it out and still not get what you want.
- TheSquareRootOfCopper ContributorFor anyone daring enough, I have been running ExplorerPatcher (GitHub project) since October that fixes it. If you're uncomfortable running community based source though, I totally get it.

After installed there is an option to never combine. Basically treats the entire taskbar like it's Windows 10 - so new Win11 taskbar features will indeed not be there.
Hope Microsoft puts the ability back in. Best of luck!
