How can I bulk convert png to jpg on Windows 11 with the Photos app?
Hi all,
I have a large number of PNG images that are taking up too much space on my Windows 11 PC, and I need to convert them to JPG to reduce the file sizes. I’d prefer to do this in bulk rather than one by one since there are quite a few images. I’ve looked at a few methods but haven’t found one that’s both efficient and easy to use on Windows 11.
I’m hoping to find a tool or software that allows for converting PNG to JPG automatically on Windows PC while maintaining good image quality. I know some online services can do this, but I’d prefer an offline solution to avoid uploading sensitive files. Ideally, I’m looking for something user-friendly that doesn’t require too many technical steps.
No, the Photos app on Windows 11 does not support batch conversion of images. It only allows you to convert one image at a time. For batch PNG to JPG conversion, you can use other tools instead.
I work in design and often need to convert different image formats. I have been using Any2Pic (https://www.uumeo.com/bulk-png-to-jpg) for two years and it is pretty good overall! I recommend you to try it!

Using the Photos App to convert PNG to JPG on Windows 11 is also a good option, the whole conversion process is also very simple and does not require any experience:
- If your image is already in the Photos app (which it probably is if you double-click on a PNG), just open the image.
- Click the three dots (menu) at the top-right corner and look for the "Save As" option. You can then select JPG from the file types listed.
- Give it a name and choose your save location. Done and done!
If you want an easier way to do this or have a bunch of files to convert, i recommend you to try online PNG to JPG converter software, I have a lot of friends have tried this method, very satisfied. operation is as follows:- Websites like Zamzer will do the trick. Just Google "PNG to JPG converter."
- Follow the site's instructions to upload your PNG.
- Hit that convert button, and once it's done, download your new JPG. Just be mindful of any privacy concerns—don't upload stuff that's super sensitive!

Rheanson The Photos app on Windows 11 is Microsoft's built-in photo viewer and editor. It is designed to provide users with an easy way to view, organize, and perform basic edits on their image and video files. As a free PNG to JPG converter on Windows 11, you can follow the steps to convert .png to .jpg without losing quality (one by one):
- Right-click on the PNG file you want to convert and select Open with > Photos.
- In the Photos app, click on the three dots (More options) in the top-right corner.
- From the dropdown menu, select Save as.
- In the Save as dialog box, choose the location where you want to save the file.
Change the Save as type dropdown to JPEG File (*.jpg). - Once you’ve selected the JPEG format, click on Save. This method will convert your PNG image to a JPG format using the Photos app.
- AkirassbCopper ContributorSure thing! Converting PNG to JPG on a Windows computer is pretty straightforward, and I've done it plenty of times. Using Microsoft Paint.
Open Paint: Just search for "Paint" in the start menu and get it fired up.
Open Your PNG: Click on "File" in the top left corner, then choose "Open" to bring in your PNG file.
Save As JPG: After the image loads, click on "File" again, then "Save As." You'll see a few options; choose "JPEG picture."
Name and Save: Pick your file name and where you want to save it. Boom! You now have a JPG version of your PNG!
When converting from PNG to JPG, remember that JPGs use lossy compression, meaning some quality might be lost. PNGs keep quality better since they're lossless, so if your image needs to stay sharp (like graphics or logos), think about whether you really need to convert it. - ZaravnCopper ContributorRelying on low-quality software or weird online converters can introduce errors, weird artifacts, or even malware. The last thing you want is to get a virus while trying to do something simple! Stick with reliable tools like Microsoft Paint or the Photos app. They're built-in and come from Microsoft, so you know they're safe and generally do a solid job with conversions.
After you have successfully converted PNG to JPG, when saving as a JPG, most programs like Microsoft Paint or even the Photos app will let you choose quality settings or adjust the compression. Aim for a balance where the file isn't huge, but it still looks good. Experiment a bit to figure out what works for you. - DavidohuCopper Contributor
Rheanson For me, the Paint app is my favorite app for converting PNG to JPG free on any Windows PC. I have been using it since Windows 7.
- Right-click on the PNG file you want to convert and select Open with > Paint.
- In the Paint app, click the File menu in the top-left corner.
- From the File menu, choose Save as and then select JPEG picture from the options.
- In the Save as dialog box, select the location where you want to save the file.
- Change the File name if needed, and ensure the Save as type is set to JPEG (*.jpg, *.jpeg, *.jpe, *.jfif).
- Once everything is set, click Save, and your PNG file will be converted to JPG.
This method allows for quick PNG to JPEG conversion using a simple built-in tool without the need for third-party software. 4o

Rheanson When bulk converting PNG to JPG without losing quality on Windows 10 or Windows 11, here are several important things to keep in mind:
Loss of Transparency: PNG files support transparency, while JPG files do not. Any transparent areas in a PNG will be replaced by a solid color (typically white) when converted to JPG. Ensure this doesn’t impact the visual appearance of your images.
Quality Settings: JPEG is a compressed format, and during conversion, you may lose some image quality. Most batch conversion tools allow you to adjust the compression level. Use a lower compression ratio (higher quality setting) to maintain as much quality as possible.
Color Profiles: Check if the conversion tool preserves or modifies the color profiles. Some tools may alter the color profile during conversion, which can result in color shifts.
Metadata Preservation: Some tools might strip metadata (EXIF, IPTC, etc.) from the image during conversion. Ensure the tool you use either preserves the metadata or gives you the option to keep it.
By considering these points, you can ensure that the free PNG to JPG conversion process goes smoothly and meets your quality requirements.

The Photos app's conversion process is straightforward, but it's not exactly customizable. You can't adjust the compression level, image quality, or even rename the file. If you need more control over the conversion process, you might be better off using a third-party software to convert PNG to JPG with high quality.
If you have multiple PNG files to convert, you'll need to go through the process individually. This can be time-consuming and tedious, especially if you're dealing with a large number of files. When saving as a JPG, the Photos app doesn't offer a wide range of file size options. You might find yourself stuck with a large file size if you need something more compact.
