doesn't get assigned a new ip address after startup - windows 11 bug

I have multiple lenovo devices isn't able to connection to internet after bootup.

There's nothing wrong with the network, and what seems to solve the issues temporarily is:

  • run a ipconfig release & renew
  • reboot adapter

This issue seems to have appeared after recent windows updates (24h2), and I want to know some further details why it hasn't been resolved yet.

I can see my users request dhcp server multiple times -  like over 500 requests - so must be something with network adapter that doesn't receive correctly from dhcp - thoughts? MrMiken  Jie-Aosi

Microsoft updates sometimes introduce regressions or bugs that take time to identify and fix. Specific hardware (Lenovo devices) may have driver or firmware incompatibilities that complicate the issue.

absolutely, but I find particular annoying is Windows hasn't been transparent on this particalular issue which I suspect has happened after 24h2 - it's up to us to somehow find an alternative solution

Reset TCP/IP stack. Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:

    netsh int ip reset
    netsh winsock reset
    ipconfig /flushdns

      thank you so much MrMiken

hmm, it didn't really resolve the main issue of what I suspect is not retrieving IP address from dhcp correctly during bootup, but short term yes.

Then I might as well run ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew
