Hi Eric LE CORRE in SharePoint and SharePoint Online there are 33 discrete permissions. Combinations of those permissions are called Permission Levels. Here is a list of permission levels available in one of my site collections:
Full Control
Design
Edit
Contribute
Read
Moderate
View Only
Approve
Manage Hierarchy
Restricted Read
Restricted Interfaces for TranslationIf you are a site collection administrator you can create new permission levels. Don't modify the existing ones, but you can copy them and modify the copies. Always include a description in your new permissions levels, you will be glad you did later. Replace the values in the URL below to see the permissions levels on a site collection:

If you compare the Edit permission level to the Contribute permission level you will see why Andrew Silcock stated a preference for the Contribute permission level. Thanks - Greg
- Chris GullicksenIron ContributorI agree with Andrew on this one. The names of your permission levels don't seem to match the out of the box permission levels so you will need to review the permission level(s) to figure out what is going on. If you or someone else has full control permissions you can visit the top of your site collection to take a look at your permission levels to find out what they are called and learn about what they do.
For an overview of SharePoint site permissions please see this: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc721640.aspx
Remember SharePoint allows you to create your own unique permission levels so the combinations of what they can do can vary. - Andrew SilcockSteel ContributorI am not familiar with the permission levels you have listed above, but we prefer Contribute rather than Edit, because Edit allows users to delete entire lists and libraries.
