What is the current official supported file types for SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business?
I was trying to get an overview of the current supported file types in Office 365, SharePoint Online and OneDrive - but failed to find it
Anyone have a link or list?

Not sure there is such a list, as there aren't many restrictions in this regards, but in a way, you could look at the supported file viewers available, that gives you a pretty good start (a complete list of supported file types is in the link)
"Our vision here on the OneDrive for Business and SharePoint team has always been to give you the best experience for all your files. While you’ve always been able to store basically any file with us, we have been investing heavily in our web viewing technology and now view over 250 different file formats (see below for the full list) in OneDrive and SharePoint!"

Another way of looking at it is the few SharePoint types of files that cannot be added to a list or library and the restrictions mentioned here.

Hi,
Thanks for that.
I have an issue whereby, I was unable to add a folder named '_vti_cnf' and later, I realised that any folder named '_vti_' has an issue. Those two links have no mention of any issues with any of these characters.
Any explanations as to why this is the case?
Thanks,

This is documented, from the link mentioned already, that I also linked to previously:
Additionally, a folder that contains the following string is reserved by SharePoint, and isn’t supported:
_vti_
