Stream on SharePoint Thumbnails Not Updating
So here's the scenario...and what I think could be a common scenario.
1. You add a video to a document library that you want to display on a page
2. You go to the library and launch the video to access Video Settings
3. You upload an image as the thumbnail
4. You add a file viewer web part to a page to display the video and the proper thumbnail displays
Then a few days later your customer asks you to use a different image as the thumbnail...you follow steps 1-3 above and the thumbnail never updates on the page where the video is being displayed.
When you access the source video from the doc library and view the details pane....you can see the NEW thumbnail showing up...but yet it won't display on the page where you placed the file viewer web part.
This has happened on several occasions. Why are the simplest things the most difficult in SharePoint? Super frustrating.
Before you suggest clearing cache...I don't think we should have to depend on our customers to clear cache every time we make an update to a thumbnail.

pnthrzrule same here, has ANYONE resolved this?
- ibr00ksCopper ContributorI'm having this exact issue right now. The auto-selected thumbnail is the only thing that will display on the page. I can even go to the file via the webapp and see the correct thumbnail but the page just WILL NOT read the replacement thumbnail. I have even deleted the web part entirely, republished the page, and then added the part and it selected the original thumbnail instead of the one I uploaded.

I am also experiencing this issue. Although for me, it is not just a replacement thumbnail, it is the original uploaded thumbnail which does not display. Is there a solution (or an acceptable workaround that doesn't involve individual users clearing cache)?
- pnthrzruleIron ContributorI solved my issue by clearing my own cache. I imagine individual cache clearing is the only solution. Therefore...I'd make certain that the thumbnail looks right for me as the uploader before I point anyone to the vid. You might try deleting the original vid and reposting it with a new file name. Or even adding the vid to a new doc library with a new file name.
