Sharepoint Subcategories
Hello all. I am trying to create subcategory's under the Registration Category but I am unable to get it figured out. I've tried being resourceful by googling and researching but I just cannot seem to get it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have attached screenshots of the settings I get when clicking on the gear icon and so on. (I could only upload three screenshots, so I picked the ones I thought would be most helpful.)
For example:
SubCategory: January 2020
SubCategory: February 2020
SubCategory: March 2020
dchatman- Subcategory is not a folder, it is just a column with a dropdown choices and users select a subcategory dropdown value when uploading the document not before that from the view. So in order for subcategory "January 2020" to show up, you upload a document and when filling in the subcategory property for that document you select "January 2020", it should show up after that.

I want to thank all of you for your help. I have learned more this morning about Sharepoint than I have on my own the last two weeks. Sharepoint is new to me and has been placed in my playground so i'm sure I will have more questions and you guys make this forum very welcoming. Once again, thank all three of you and God Bless.
If this is a pretty standard document library, that's where you want to do the change - not in the site settings. Go to your 'Official Documents and LIcenses' library, and then use the gear icon to go to library settings. There is where you'll find your Category and Subcategory fields - add your new ones to the definition of the field.
I guess I may have been in the correct place. In the screenshot, I put that "January 2020" in the Subcategory field about a week ago but it would never show after checking-in and approving the page. Is there another step i'm missing?

- Do you mean Uploaded the document, filled in the properties in this case subcategory and checked it in and you have content approval ?
If you are trying to recreate image #3 in another document library, create a new View and using the Group By options listed in the Create View screen.
