Quick consultation from you guys
I know this may sound like an obious thing, but is Sharepoint Online a good choice if you want to deposit 450k+ documents with more than 500 pages of images and text for each document?
I think this scenario screams performance hindrance on the usage.
The reason I ask is because someone at work mentioned that it's a good place to deposit these kind of documents...mind you these are confidential as well so I feel like it shouldn't go there even if it's pretty secured.
I'll thank you all for your insights and opinions.
Thank you!

So if a library has the 5,000 threshold limit, how can you break that limit for SP Online? I tried doing index, but for some odd reason I can't see records beyond 1,500 and there's 10k files.

Hi, Jonathan.
You're not actually breaking the limit or threshold. It's is more working around it.
Indexing is only one technique but a more effective would be to identify if you'll need to create sub-folders that will not exceed more than 5,000 items.
Other workarounds include archiving/deleting items after a certain point in time, or using list filters that will not display that many items.
You may have encountered this online but here is Microsoft's article on the topic:

You'll have to consider what are the file sizes of each and in total (in Gb) of your documents if they contain 500 pages of images and text aside from how you plan to organize these files.

You'd have to do some serious thinking through designing the solution (its not a dump everything in one folder kinda of solution) and how you want search and security to work. While not the same size (individual documents), we are storing millions of documents in SharePoint Online with no noticeable performance hindrance.
- Agree with Brent here, a single SPO document library can store up to 30 million of documents with no performance problems
