Placeholder URL for grouping doclibs in a site.
We have lot of clinical trials with in a department . Each of them will need a different site because of the amount of documentation each trial require.
We need a container name for each trial like
https://company.sharepoint.com/sites/department/%3Ctrialname%3E/regulatory etc.. to access specific documents. So For each trial we used to create a separate subsite with in department. But we want avoid it in Modern Sites as Microsoft Doesn't recommend it.
MS Teams doesn't really work for us because each channel is only a folder and we can't fit in various levels of data in folders.
Is there a way in Modern Sites to create a placeholder URL of how we can group our document libraries. So let's say a specific Medical Trial requires 20 document libraries all of them can be accessed by a Placeholder URL(https://company.sharepoint.com/sites/department/%3Ctrialname%3E/) without creating a subsite? Please let me know

- Not sure what is your question here...the scenario you have is perfectly accomplished by means of a single site where you create several document libraries each one what it's specific security configuration. If each trial only requires to store documents, it does not make sense to create a subsite or even a site collection. Coming back to the initial though, I don't see a problem on creating a modern team site with several document libraries and each one with it's specific security configuration, Bear in mind that you can still create a classic SPO site and use modern features there...

Maybe i'm not explaining right, Users while accesing the trial need to know where they are so we create subsite as placeholder. It seems like hubsites can be the way to go for us, I'll try to reframe the complete scenario so you can understand better.
Thanks
- Anonymousjust create separate document library apps on the site, it will accomplish that. What is limiting you from using folders? The only reason you would want multiple document libraries over folders is specific library settings the have to be different such as content types, client open options, approval settings etc.

Hello Chris
Appreciate quick response. No we need to create separate document libraries because security wise there is lot of external sharing and we can't manage permissions in folders. Also in general we are trying to limit folder creation with in company and use either document sets or metadata. So we can't recommend users to create deep nested folder structure and run into URL length and other issues.
Per modern architecture if we don't want to create susbsites and want to create placeholder to group document libraries and access them is there an option?
- AnonymousWhy can’t you use multiple libraries again? You said sharing options per library are needed?
