Microsoft SharePoint designer 2013 encountered an error during setup
Hello All,
Every time I'm trying to install SharPoint Designer 2013 it shows the error :
"microsoft sharepoint designer 2013 encountered an error during setup"
I have office 2016 student and home edition that was pre installed with my Laptop .It is 32 bit version.
I tried with SPD 2013 32 bit version and 64 bit version but no luck.
Is something that I'm missing.
Previously when I installed SPD was installed on my machine smoothly but now it is showing problems.
any guideline can save my years .
Please need help!!

I got SPD 2013 to install !!!
Mine worked after I deleted the "Office" folder in Task Schedular (I have no Idea why)
See this guy on youtube (hard to understand english, but you can get the idea): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBwmYVGh1yc
Appears an office task is interfering with the sharepoint install ????
Worked for me.

Same issue.
- Running Office 365 Home Premium 32 bit, Windows 10 pro 64
- Tried both sharepoint designer 32 and 64 installs
- Tried deleting caches (no folder location in current windows but did have in windows.old)
- No reminence of old office programs to delete
- Spent a day surfing web for solutions (found possible idea of running/creating virtual server, not sure how to do or why we should have to)
Thinking about forking out the $100 for microsoft Answer Desk Assure and let them sort it (or try).
Any other ideas?

I had this issue before. In my case i had a Office 2010 programs and components item blocking it. That came with office 2010 and never got uninstalled.
After uninstalling it i was able to install the designer. Check in Programs and Features and uninstall any office 2010 component hanging there.

Hi Vipin,
If your Office version (x86 or x64) you will need to install the same for SharePoint Designer. I know it has not installed but may be worth checking if anything is cached https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/33469.how-to-clear-your-sharepoint-designer-20102013-cache.aspx.
Cheers
Brad
- Vipin TyagiBrass ContributorHi @Bradley,
Thanks for the Response.
When I was setting up my newly purchased Laptop, SharePoint Designer get installed without any hassle(Guess 32 bit version ,as Office 2016 is 32 bit). But due to some circumstances I reset my Windows 10 Home and I install VS2015 Community,SQL Server 2012 and some more application. After that i tried to install SPD2013 (X32 and X64 both) but get same error for both versions.I tried registry related stuffs and all the solution provided by google but all the time I get same error message. This is really irritating that I still don't have any solution after contacting MicrosoftHelp on Twitter.
I uninstall MS Office 2016 and now I'm trying but the same problem happening again and again.Don't know what I'm missing.
I don't have these files >>>
Close SPD if it is open >>Open My Computer >>Click the address bar >>Paste in: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WebsiteCache
Delete everything within this location >> Click the address bar >> Paste in: %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache >>Delete everything in this location .
Hope for the best!!!
Going to reset my laptop again
