Is there a way to prevent access to Sharepoint settings?
Hey Guys,
Is there a way I can hide these options from users? I have tried to follow a couple of options from Microsoft on SharePoint Admin Center but they did not work and I am trying to avoid installing Microsoft SDK. I would appreciate if some of you could share what you actually did to hide those options. Thanks!
This is how my SharePoint settings look like right now.
To expand on the previous answer by jcgonzalezmartin, while a user can see that menu item, when they click on it, they will only be able to change setting if they have permission to. A typical user with the Edit permission level, will not be able to make many changes, users with the Design or Full Control level will see more options

Thank you for the answer, Dean. Unfortunately, a user with Edit permission still has access to Site Content. Thanks!
- Dean_GrossSilver ContributorUses with Edit Permissions will always have access to Site Content, that is the way that SP works.
- Might I ask what's the problem of having that link in this menu? It provides a shortcut to the user settings in Office 365 and to answer to your question: No, it is not possible possible to prevent that access...but as I said, I don't see a problem from the user point of view, it provides just another way to access to the user settings in Office 365

Thank for your reply, Juan. The simple answer is that I don't want to leave those Sharepoint Settings available for the users because I want to restrict them and leave it available to the administrator only.
As you noticed, I am not talking about the Office 365 options but Sharepoint Settings.
- Ok, the answer is still no and I can tell you that his option has been there (in another position in the screen) since old SharePoint 2007...the link says SharePoint settings, but when you click on that link you will see on the site settings page the site settings options you are granted to see depending on the permissions assigned to your user
