Custom/Vanity domain name/URL for Sharepoint Online
Hi,
I would like to change the default Sharepoint.com URLs to company's URLs, so:
1) contoso.sharepoint.com => sharepoint.contoso.com
2) contoso-my.sharepoint.com => mysharepoint.contoso.co...
R_Kovalev They should be able to... I use Zoho Helpdesk and added a vanity URL helpdesk.mydomain.com and setup some DNS records. Zoho automatically issued an SSL certificate and it started working after a few hours. It's not difficult at all these days.
carlomnibrand Just because Zoho can do this, doesn't mean SharePoint can. There are technical limitations in SharePoint Online's architecture that are not conducive to allowing custom domain names currently.
- I was replying to the comment about issuing SSL certificates, not talking about architecture.
However, it's been many years since Microsoft launched SharePoint Online, and the fact that one can't change the SP URL is use a vanity URL is very, very poor. It's been more than long enough for them to fix this limitation, it's offered by all competing products.
